Hacking

Recently, I've noticed that a lot of people are getting supposedly "hacked", so I thought it would be a good idea to make an awareness thread.

Things I Think You Should Know:

-Telling somebody your password and then having everything on your account deleted is NOT hacking, it's your fault for giving them your password. (Harsh but true)

-Hacking IS if somebody sends you a mail with a virus in it. If somebody sends you a link, make sure it is a safe website first.

-Hacking can also be guessing someone's password to break into their account. This is very rare, and if you have a good password (includes numbers, uppercase and lowercase letters, isn't a real word) then your chances of this happening are extremely low to none

-Scamming is when somebody tricks you by abusing your kindness

This thread is not to point out specific hackers, if you do that IS harassment. But for the inevitable things, like gifting CC, we need solutions.

Problem/Solution:

1. Gifting CC when you don't get what the deal said you would could be resolved by allowing people to make offers on trades in CC.

These are all very good points.

Especially about the giving people your password.

I understand that sometimes friends trust each other, but online how well can you really trust someone? Or if you and your real life friend have a fight, what if they try and mess up your account?

It is stupid to give any one your password! No matter how much you may trust them. It's a huge risk. And if they do stuff to your account, then you'll learn the hard way.

If anyone does know your password, I'd suggest changing them.
