I have seen a trend recently. People will post pictures on here and then the posting that they're ugly

Now, I don't think this is for attention; most of the people posting were coaxed into it by friends wanting to see them.

I just want you to know, your mind seems to warp your perception. I have gone through this personally.

I can look at a picture I took a year ago, and I generally look the same, that I went "I am absolutely horrendous in this photo"; and you know what? Now that it's not "in the moment" I don't see myself as ugly in that picture. I see a cute, young looking girl who seems scared of a camera. Trying to be as small as possible.
And yet, at the time I thought I was uglier than a toad.

You need not fear your looks. You're prettier than you think you are, just hang in there.

@22fireboy

They're just jealous, you know that right?
When they get.. basically emotional, and don't know how to handle that anger [You making better grades than them] they lash out.
You're fine 😸

Meh. I plainly think it's for attention.

I really don't see how someone would post a picture if they truly thought themselves ugly. *shrugs*

Either way, people should try and get out of the mindset. Whether it be for attention or not.

Post a picture "look an ugly picture of me!"

Then having someone say 'aww, you're pretty."

And then them going "EWW NO I AM SO UGLY."

Screams attention to me. But that's just me. >_>

ALSO! I mean no offence. While I do think it's for attention, that doesn't make me think bad things about someone. I used to do lots of stuff for attention when I was younger.

Yeah, I'd think that, but most of the ones doing it are 10 year olds who were pressured by their friends [IE = 'I WANNA SEE YOU ☚ī¸ ]

If this were facebook, or a site full of more...mature audiences, then I'd think it was for attention.

Meh. I guess it's just me. But personally I think it's easy to say 'no, I don't feel comfortable sharing my picture.'

I do it all the time. And I don't have any problem with my looks, I Just don't want random people seeing me.

Either way, I just ignore the threads. ^.^ No harm done. XD

I agree with
@april__

People dont HAVE to post pictures of themselves, it is the internet and you can't really FORCE someone to do somthing like that.

Also it concerns me that parents do not lecture their children to NOT post pictures of themselves to random strangers online, no offence, but anyone here could be a potential danger.

@stellalunagirl

Very true. Where is the proof I'm an 18 year old girl?

Where is it? Is it because I spend time on here getting pets? What proof is that?

(I am an 18 year old girl, just an example.)

Either way. The negative attitude isn't appealing. Having a positive attitude about one's self is actually attractive in my opinion. Just not to the point where it's vain.

Agreed, though I do believe a lot of it is to do with wanting attention, don't get me wrong, I think everyone wants attention at some point in their lives, but I think it is rather foolish to follow some wayward internet trend.

Posting your picture on the net can actually be quite dangerous and affect your future in a bad way. So please, watch out and don't do it just because everyone else is.
