@Sanibal_18

This has something to do with stress, any new changes that were overwhelming? Did you just get it? Just make him feel more secure to help, I usually let them free in an empty room for a little bit, or buy some new toys to take its mind of its stress.

@faybaybay

cockatiel

@stellie

well, he gets scared when my cousins are here, i'm going to buy some new toys for him tomorrow.😊

maybe i should tell you about IkiTiki's life.

a breeder had some cockatiels,and ikitiki was one of them.he had a BFF there, but one day the breeder sold ikitiki's BFF.ikitiki was very sad so the breeder gave ikitiki a mirror.Then he sold ikitiki to a pet store.the pet store knew what mirrors was bad for ikitiki so they removed all the mirrors in the cage.When i came to buy ikitiki i saw that the feathers on his head where all gone.

@Sanibel_18

That's why I asked, I think he's probably lonely or stressed. You should really give him a mirror, or even better go find him another birdy friend to hang around with, do any of your friends have birds? or family memebers? I have Zebra finches and they always have to be in pirs because they dont really interact with humans,and the second I got my two zebra finches they really hit it off, they get along so well and now they have 5 eggs. My male zebra finch plucks his feathers too :/ but I think it's because he's trying to put them in the nest haha.

@pheonixfox
mirrors make birds insane.so they are happy when they are with the mirror, but when they are far away from the mirror they become sick and start plucking.

@faybaybay

we have 2 cockatiels and 2 budgies.
lol that's so cute.😸 just hope that my little twilight doesn't pluck his feathers to put in the nest if i'm going to breed.😱

@faybaybay

ikitiki likes to be close to the other 'tiel.
and he sometimes gets scratched by one of our budgies twilight.😊

they all live in the same cage.
yes, he is very addicted to the mirror.every time we walk by a mirror he tries to get close to it.

Yea I agree he sounds really depressed, Cockatiels are parrots & parrots are EXTREMELY social birds, even the smaller types like Love Birds. I had several Cockatiels in my life time & if they don't get enough attention they get bored and depressed so that can make them really destructive, to other items and to themselves. Try spending more time with him, have him out on your shoulder in a safe room & talk to him while you watch TV or are on the internet. Make sure all windows/doors are closed, mirrors covered, ceiling fans off, etc. They get hurt easily if they're spooked by a noise & fly into stuff like that. You can never replace what another birds companionship is like, but maybe if he sees what a nice human friend you can be he'll cheer up a little bit. Oh & try giving him human food treats to encourage him to eat, fruits like seedless grapes, strawberries, bananas, apples that sort of stuff they can eat a lot of different human foods, just use them as treats in moderation & look them up online to be safe. If he still won't eat then you may really want to think about a vet visit. Of course I'm no expert, but I had to put my 2 cents in.

@Sanibel_18

Well maybe try to ease him off the mirror? Spend more time playing with him and less time around the mirror and see how that goes xD or make him do activities like play games maybe he's bored or lonely?
