@yts EC is basically the site's currency. You can participate in auctions (held by users, it's not exactly and official thing in an auction house), buy travels, trade it, use it to abandon your creature at the Adoption Center, book your creatures at Tim's Food Shoppe, put it in the strongroom... If you explore around, you'll find you can use it to buy a lot of things, as well as use it as a way to trade. 😊
