Can stress made a surgery site hurt?

Kso, as some of you have seen my last thread, yesterday was a pretty stressful day..

Well, now that I've calmed down, my ankle is KILLING me.

I had surgery on May17th on my ankle, and am re-learning how to walk. I was doing okay pain wise until yesterday. Now it hurts to even move.

With the boot I'm semi-okay, but right now [no boot] it's throbbing with my heart beat.

Any advice on how to help it?

And, I'm going to the doctor today and do you have anything questions I should ask him?

@bluegirl80

I'm pinging you because you've had something very similar to me done, and may know.

@bluegirl80

Your surgery gave no pain? o_o At all? Well dang, can we switch? xD

I may wrap it and put ice on it.
[RICE.] xD

Throughout my life, RICE was my friend. My family Doctor asked a medical student to tell him what to do with an ankle like mine, and without thinking I went "rice." while reading a book xD

Same day, he twisted my ankle to show said student how it would sprain >-> No warning.
"This is probably what happened." //Yank//

@victoria_the_wolf OWW And no you probley dont want my foot... I balled my eyes out yesterday and I will again this morning. That is a mean doctor!

Deleted • 14 July 2011 at 10:04 AM

@bluegirl80

That's why I'm scared about PT ._....

When I took it when I was like, 9, I had to put my foot into a bucket of water with ice in it, and then a jaccuzi. I liked the jaccuzi... Ice bucket, not so much. I'm pretty sure I cried >-<

And I wouldn't mind my doctor twisting my foot [when it was healed, now not so much XD] just give me some warning roflrofl

Deleted • 14 July 2011 at 10:06 AM

@victoria_the_wolf But They probley wouldnt do the same PT for you as they did for me...

Deleted • 14 July 2011 at 10:08 AM

@bluegirl80

Oh I know, we had two different things.

Yours was bone, I think.

Mine was tissue.

They'd be stupid to do the exact same exercises.

But what I mean is, I don't know what they'll do and I'm scared it will hurt OTL I have a high pain tolerance, but some things I just can't do. Like how they made me use an elastic band to push on my foot while I pulled on it, I don't think I can do that.

Deleted • 14 July 2011 at 10:11 AM

@victoria_the_wolf Well if you dont the way it heals could hurt you, Or you might never be able to walk again. They try to test your strenghth and then gradully pull you in more so you can heal properly. (OMG I SOUND LIKE A DOCTOR!)

Deleted • 14 July 2011 at 10:13 AM

@bluegirl80

IknowIknow.

I'm going to ask him while I'm there.

He said if I can teach myself I wouldn't have to do PT, but I have to keep pushing myself. I don't know if I'm doing that right.

Doctor Bones.

Where have I heard that before? XD

What surgery did you have? What caused you to need the surgery?

Deleted • 14 July 2011 at 10:28 AM

@victoria_the_wolf Cutting a bone out, and a flip-flop and the curb of the sidewalk!

Deleted • 14 July 2011 at 10:29 AM

@bluegirl80

Ow

OwOwOwOwOw

Did your bone grow back, or -

All I can say is owwww

Deleted • 14 July 2011 at 10:30 AM

No it did not it was and extra bone.

Deleted • 14 July 2011 at 10:32 AM

@bluegirl80

So it seriously didn't hurt that bad? e.e

And did you do anything to the side walk that, like, dislodged the bone?

Deleted • 14 July 2011 at 10:33 AM

Yes ans Yes I ran into the curb that loosened the bone, this was last year.

Deleted • 14 July 2011 at 10:35 AM

o_o

You say it didn't hurt bad, but the thought makes me cringe xD

I'm looking up stuff on the computer, and it says bone actually heals faster than tissue. How is that even possible?

So, on a side note, what are you doing? :'3

Try putting some icey hot on it or soaking it in epson salt. You can also take tylonel. Tell your doctor about the pain. He might prescribe some meds.

Deleted • 14 July 2011 at 10:39 AM

@hvernon
