Isn't it the higher the number of rarity, the lower? And the lower the number, rare? I'm just curious. :|

Sometimes the numbers are inaccurate because they're based on the number of that creature in existence. More popular creatures, even if they're rare, may have a higher number than an unpopular common.

For example, Crabberts have a lower number than Mos because Mos are more popular.

I get it. 😊 But if thats the case they need to fix that because I rely on it. 😊

@skibunny9

Yeah, it shouldn't be based partially on popularity.

Kind of wish they had the amount of the creatures in existence, rather than a rarity number... or maybe just both.

From the FAQ:

"The weighted rarity of a species is based off all the alive creatures in Ark. Generally, weighted rarities range from a number between 1 and 500, where a 0 weighted rarity means the species is extinct and 500 means a species is very common."

Weighted rarity is based solely on how many of the species there are. It is fairly accurate in the sense that it shows which creatures are more common and which are less common. The weighted rarity of a creature isn't intended to inform users of how valuable a creature is, but how common it is, and isn't a reliable source for the former. Some creatures may be more or less valuable than their number suggests because value depends on not only how many of the creature exist, but on other factors such as popularity. Thus, it would be extremely difficult to put a number on how valuable each creature is, as it varies with each person and may change over time. ;]
