Your talking about your notifications when it says this-user have pinged you. Well that's when someone put the '@' sign in front of your username. For a example, if you want to ping me all you have to do is '@' then type my username which is Fakeworld. @Fakeworld. Then it'll send that specific person a notification stating that you pinged them.
