Why do people do this?

When a user is quitting everyone says how much they'll miss them, blahblahblah, and then they say they'd be "honored" to strip the quitter's cove of all rares. When @pebblestar-nightclan was considering quitting, I asked for a freaking Sey, not a Tine. My point is if you would really miss the person then you would take anything as a memory of them. Sheesh.

@zafeyry

Because most people want a creature they are unable to obtain themselves. Others are greedy and you are completely correct.

@zafeyry And what I hate the most is that people are like, "Oh, sorry you're quitting, please don't go, but can I have any of your rares or LEs or CC creatures or anything from my wishlist?"

It just shows that you're looking for something rare and that you don't really care. IF THE QUITTER IS GIVING OUT CREATURES, THEY WILL GIVE IT TO YOU STRAIGHT, NOT IF YOU ASK THEM.

(I used to ask for LEs but now I've stopped. I guess this *kind of* makes me a hypocrite... *smacks self*)

@phoenixfox
Why do people have pixel greed and jealousy? D:

@karamel
Yep, if I ever quit, I'm keeping my Favorites list xD

@karamel

Good question, I don't know....
They are, after all, just pixels

For the users who own them, however, there may be a story behind it. A gift from a friend, a player in a role play, or just how much effort was put it to getting that particular creature.

It's actually confusing for new users especially when the post says "I'm quitting, if you want something, just ask"

I'm afraid I've done it too. :/

@zafeyry If I ever quit, I'm going to give my creatures to people that deserve them/trustworthy friends.

It just frustrates me that people think they can take whatever they want just because a user they barely know is quitting.

@zafeyry

Yeah, a lot of people just take advantage of quitting users. Today one of my friends that I barely even know (I should probably say acquaintance ๐Ÿ˜‹) asked me if they could have my Nym when I quitted. It's the third time she asked. -_- And by the way, nice hashtag name.. xD

@phoenixfox It's very misleading, I agree, but they asked for it. It's their fault if they get trampled with requests xD Even if the newbie DOES get something out of that, they will be put under the impression that they can get anything =-="

True they did ask for it. However, then they and other people get mad about everyone asking. They should just address their friends individually.

I know if I quit, I already know which creatures will go where.

*normal speaking*
i just came back from a break and so many people want my nym and spookcat...e3e

but i can also see how somebody feels responsible enough to get a quitting user's tine or something, so they ask for that. but not always.

perhaps the way we see things isn't how the person asking for it sees it.
sorry if that was confusing xD

@rabbitwanter Almost all the time people are not responsible and just want rare creatures because... well, because they want them.

I would figure that they wouldn't need to be responsible anyway, since it's been so long ago the creature(s) should be immortalized xD

It's not about being responsible anymore. Egg Cave has become all about CC and creature rarities.

@karamel ~

yeah i think most of us are guilty of that in the past...oTL

wait what do you mean by that? they aren't?? xD

some of it is...i wasnt responsible and my creatures died..
and yeah that annoys me...the community has become larger over 3 years and most of the newbies are not thinking like we oldies do๐Ÿ˜ฑ

@rabbitwanter No, I mean the creatures ARE immortalized so you don't exactly have to be responsible since they won't die. And I was referring to Tines and Onnies since they were released a Caveman era ago (well okay... 2 years ago...).

I'm not exactly an oldie (well, I've been here for 8 months and 6 days) but I can see the progress from what was going on 3 years ago and what is going on today. It's just so... industrial...? I'm not sure if that's the right word, but what I mean is that everything is about rarity, CC and dream coves/cove worth...

ohhh yeah. but some newbs could trade it for a terrible offer and not even know.

well you think like one๐Ÿ˜‹
(thats a good thing)
yeah, back when i was new everyone would just gift tines and other creatures regulary. and there are amazing people that do now but...

i had something else i wanted to say but i forget it ughhhh ;o;

Deleted • 26 July 2012 at 2:59 PM

@zafeyry
I think I ran into that, its just that its so hard to say "No" in the end to inocent users who are just looking to fulfill their wishlist. Its easier to just say "Maybe" and then never get back to that person. ๐Ÿ˜‹

@rabbitwanter Chances are, the quitter won't give it to some newbie ๐Ÿ˜‹

I wish I WAS an oldie though... then I'd have all those rare creatures xD

I honestly think there should be some kind of rule enforced... But now that I think about it, a rule along the lines of "Don't bother users who are quitting" sounds stupid. ._."

@karamel ~

thats true 8D

bahaha i know right? xD
i wish i had them all back //sobs

but if the quitting user says somewhere to ask if anythings uft/a then they should be able to ask, even if its for a rare creature:U

@rabbitwanter Now I continuously search for sites that are like Egg Cave so I can hopefully get rare eggs before newbies swarm the place xD

Yes, I'm not saying that they can't ask for creatures, I'm just saying that you should know whether you deserve it or not (consider the situation: a newbie asking for an Onny. Common sense, honestly).

thats genius. pure genius. xD

if i were quitting i'd never give away an onny! eAe
//shot

maybe there could be a way we can (or the system) almost rate other users? how they take care of creatures and how responsible they are, how they are with getting their dream cove. i dunno๐Ÿ˜‹

karamel • 26 July 2012 at 3:21 PM

@rabbitwanter JUST REMEMBER IT WAS MY IDEA FROM THE START D8<

Well, if I were quitting I'd give my rare creatures to friends I trust. The Onny's no good if it just sits there in an inactive cove. That's just my opinion though.

If they saw their own rating, they could be offended. Plus, everyone has their own different dream cove. Maybe there could be some kind of record/ratio/summary of your account: how many creatures you've had in total, how many have died, how much EC you've earned in total, etc...

haha i will xD
i'd probably give all my creatures to friends i trust:U

not a rating of their dream cove, but how they achieved/are achieving it. are they making fair offers? stealing? i dunno๐Ÿ˜‹
yeah thats a good idea:L
something to keep track of so before you give somebody something, you know if its smart...were onto something here:'D

@rabbitwanter I'm not sure that the rating for "fair offers" would be easy for Ian to decide...

Lol, maybe we should discuss it in a PM or something, we're going off topic xD

But yeah, honestly, I'd take anything as long as it wasn't something they'd gotten straight from the Cave... .__." And maybe we should introduce a USER-BASED rule (not an official rule but is a known rule amongst others) about quitting c:

@zafeyry Why is there any need to ask? Human beings are greedy. People here place value on certain pixels, so they'll want them. Some people will just always try to abuse the situation to get what they want.
