To answer your question, the limit to the number of creatures you have.. its 300. Correct me anyone if I'm wrong, although too many creatures... isn't the best thing.

The limit is 300 creatures in your cove. Although, you can get THREE storage accounts (read the Terms of Service about multiple accounts) and get 300 creatures in there too.
Be careful though, if you have too many creatures it will be hard to look after them all.
