Yet Another Suggestion

This can't possibly go wrong, can it? Okay, I was thinking it'd be nice if on traded creatures there would be an "Original Owner" tag. Like, if I traded my Eeriek for a Gadfly, the Gadfly would have its original owner tag by the date it was stolen. Let's say Essieh traded me a Gadfly that originally belonged to FayBayBay.. On its profile it would say, "Owned by Whitefire Previously owned by Essieh Originally Owned by FayBayBay Stolen on June 1, 2012." Do you see what I'm saying? I don't think it has any benifits, but maybe if it said that people wouldn't say that they originally stole something that previously belonged to somebody else. I don't know, it's just a thought.

@whitefire I like the idea, but then it should only say who was the user who original stole/bought it. As you dont really have to know what people trade to each other for which prices, right? 😋

Ooo cool, I was thinking about this a while ago, It would be cool to have a like a tag in the corner that says 'originally stolen by' I mean it doesn't have to show ALL the owners it's ever had, just the first & the current. It would maybe help with confusion. because i've accidentally sent someone my creature instead of theirs because they were the same species & i forgot the name of mine. If it had the original owner tag I would know which one was mine xD

@FayBayBay Yes, but with a "Previous Owner Tag" as well, if the original stealer traded it to someone else, then that person traded it to you, and wanted it back, then you wouldn't have to worry about trading the wrong one. It might be even BETTER than with just the "Originally Owned by" tag.

Yeah so 3 tags. Who owns it now, who owned it before, you & who stole it originally. It may seems kinda of useless, but sometimes I like to know who owned the creature before me xD hahah & when im not sure which creature is mine or someone elses it would be useful

@FayBayBay Yeah, and also if you wanted to find the previous owner to thank them for the creature, then you wouldn't have to search through a million users to find them, especially if you don't remember their name!

@whitefire @faybaybay i think the problem with anything more than just the original stealer is: side accounts.

i know i trade my creatures around in my sides pretty often, and there would be no way to tell the difference between a side and another user, so the bulk of that extra previous-owner stuff would just be your own accounts.

i do really like the idea of having who first stole it though!! then you can be proud of the ones you got yourself, and everyone else will know it, and if people gift each other cave creatures, it can be a special thing because it'll say who it's from. that actually would make cave creatures a bit more loved, being that they would have a person associated with them too.

@RiffRaffie Well, you would have your sides listed on your page, wouldn't you? Or wouldn't your side's names be similar to your main's name, so that it's easier to remember? But anyways, you can always tell people that your side is, well, your side!

@whitefire yes, people know, but there's just a really high chance that no matter what, the previous owner is going to be your own side.... and it seems like that one would be a lot more hellacious to code than just the original steal, and for something that would only be occasionally useful, and then for the sake of curiosity only :\

@whitefire what benefit would that give them, aside from just the curiosity factor? it wouldn't help any rarities, and would it really affect whether someone would trade for it or not?

though, i understand that there have been some trade security issues lately, but i think that's a separate problem that needs another solution entirely :C possibly an option for a 'lending' program, so you can let someone else freeze/re-gender/immortalize, but the creature would return to you after a certain period of time, and whoever you leant it to wouldn't be able to trade it away.

This would have worked awhile ago with the flaren issue if you heard about but still this idea is actually reaally good! Just where would it be out and what if it was really really long?

@EmeraldMonster It would only be the owner who had it immediately before you, not ALL of the previous owners.

@whitefire presumably you know the person you're getting it from, so.... if it's just the immediate previous owner, that just. i do think it would be a coding nightmare compared to the original-steal one.

@RiffRaffie But some people, like me, can't remember the previous owner. And, this probably has happened once or twice though not very often, what if someone pretends to be the previous owner and asks for their creature back? If there was a previous owner tag, wouldn't that make it that much easier to know whether or not someone's scamming you?

@whitefire yes and no - they could just as easily claim they were the owner before that one and their creature had been unfairly taken. the scamming problem is really a separate issue, people are going to lie about something no matter what if that's what they're gonna do :\
