Feeding dying coves - the point?

Can someone please explain to me the point in feeding "dying coves"? I mean...I need feeds and I don't get them even though I feed back anybody who feeds my cove, and yet some people decide to put an effort in feeding coves for people who don't play who quit the game and won't see or appreciate the effort?

What is the point in it?

@fluffycat: Well, feeding dying coves helps the user that's cove is dying because because they're most likely on a hiatus, not quitting. They'll probably have rares, and when they come back, they'll probably be really upset to find a cove that used to be full of rares...empty.

For example, shadowgirl's cove is pretty good, with some rares, and her Ahjoon died... they're pretty rare if you check the Archives.

They probably will see it, if you post on their wall. It's always sad to see creatures die...well, that's what I think, personally. I mean, how would you feel if you had a ton of rares, decided to take a hiatus, and came back to find...nothing? That's what I feed coves for. Since you're an active user, you can still feed your pets, and they won't die too soon. Their happiness will manage to stay above ten, probably. 😊

People might give feedbacks without telling you. I always post on their wall unless it says not to. Also, if the other person has a much smaller cove, they might not feed your entire cove back if it's much larger. If you have any other questions, just ask. ^^

Yeah but those people don't play the game...so what if some rare pixels die? Ian can conjure them out of thin air if he wants so...

@fluffycat: Actually, sometimes he can't. ^^' Sometimes he can, but not always.

@awesomeness365 He does have the "power" to but he'll only do it if he finds a good reason to do so.

@fluffycat Some people don't feed back. Read their profiles and status. I've seen you feed my cove, but *pokes profile* I don't usually feed back 😋

The dying coves are most likely old friends who abandoned their coves (I know @kittyt + @cookienatornym) and people are trying to keep them alive.
As awesomeness365 said, they may be on hiatus or semi-quitting.

-Saunters in-

I'm owner of the RDBP - Royal dying babysitters program

We're goal is to keep dying coves alive.

Why?

Because, I like to think these people love their coves, and can't handle them anymore. We're like the angel's of mercy for eggcave, trying to keep their coves from completely going bye-bye.

If you suddenly disappeared, we'd put you on that list too 😸

Tis Charity.

I think @fluffycat is trying to say that maybe we should channel our efforts in feeding the coves of people who are playing the game, instead of those who have already abandoned the coves.

As @fluffycat mentioned, she or he has problems getting people to feed back her cove. So it must be disappointing to see people who put efforts in feeding coves of people who don't feed back.
