The rainbowness and question mark are because you never know what it will be next.

Also, it should always be the evolution of a creature that it would normally be. Ex: One day the Chroma is an Aerlo. It has 57 views, so it is still an egg. Seven months later, it is an Aerlo again - but it has 7492 views, so it is a 2nd stage Aerlo.
