So I take 8th grade Algebra 2 math. o_eIt's going pretty good except I'm stuck on something.Can anybody help? I:This is about: PROPORTION WORD PROBLEMS~I get some problems, but how would I set up a proportion for this? Diego's mother is twice as old as he is. She is also as old as the sum of the ages of Diego and both of his younger twin brothers. The twins are 11 years old. What is the age of Diego? Set up an equation.Please help? I looked up how to do this but the guides are about the really simple proportions. Not this. i:/~~~Solved~~~/

Sure.Type out each sentence then make it into an equation.His mom is twice his age, so M(age)=2D(age).She is also his age and his twin brother's ages. So M=D+2T.The twins are 11 years old, so, T=11.M is mom's age. D is diego's age. T is the twins each.Then replace the letters in the other equation with the number.That's how I solve it. I don't know if that's the correct way you're asking, but I think it is...

@trish No, noo! That's cheating, when I was in the 8th grade I had to learn the hard way. Math wasn't my typical subject, asking for questions should be the least thing you should be doing. You'll never understand, because once you get into a higher grade level proportions are going to be used like addition used middle school. @meixiaotian Thank you. o: I figured it out. C:< So just double-checking, is M = 44. D = 22? @fakeworld The set-up is what I was looking for. 😋 I did solve it, so it wasn't total cheating. o.o Besides, I'll learn from the other 20 problems I need to do. xD

@trish Yup.

@trish As long as you're not cheating. 😊
