A demon in the Woods~

It peeled the bark from the tree,
and with its red eyes stared at me.
It's haunting features, its air of blight.
Both of things froze me upon sight.
It laughed and cackled.
It shook its shackles.
It said to me in a sly tongue,
This day dear child, your life is done.
It danced a dance then danced some more,
it danced about the forest floor.
It ate a bird, quite raw indeed.
It took a drink from a bottle of mead.
And then like that the horror was gone,
never again shall I enter the woods alone.
