@ladybugheart - Awesome, I would love to get an eyelash viper. Black mambas' are awesome too. @snow_angel618 - I have some skins right now. Not very many.
linpug • 24 July 2011 at 7:35 PM
i love snake, but my mom is totally afraid of them. đ They are so cute! my favorite is the viper!
shelby • 24 July 2011 at 7:45 PM
@linpug - that's too bad. No one should be afraid of them. They're actually really calm and tame if you get them from a good person. What kind of viper?
linpug • 24 July 2011 at 7:46 PM
ALL! đ The cottenmouth, eyelash viper, rattlesnakes, death adder, you name it!
carnatate • 24 July 2011 at 7:49 PM
i don't like >-<
shelby • 24 July 2011 at 8:30 PM
@linpug - Oh awesome. I love all snakes myself, but I really love the giant constrictors. Pythons, anaconda, boa constrictor, etc.
snow_angel618 • 25 July 2011 at 8:24 AM
@shelby ok so wat are the names of those snakes that are like a peachy color and w/ like orange-ish stripes? i LOOOOOVE those!
shelby • 25 July 2011 at 2:54 PM
That sounds like a corn snake. There are hundreds of mutations of corn snakes, with new ones still being made.
thepells4 • 25 July 2011 at 2:58 PM
There are lots of Garter Snakes that live around my house. Last summer, my sister caught around four. She named them Snakey, Snakey 2, Snakey 3, and Snakey 4. X3Snakey and Snakey 3 died, Snakey 2 and Snakey 4 were released back to the wild.We kept two in a large tank at a time, then one died and another one magically appeared outside. xDDDDD We fed them worms, and they liked those. We tried minnows, but they wouldn't touch them, and we tried crickets, but they kept multiplying. O_OOf course, right now, we don't have anymore snakes. But my sister has seen a few Garter snakes outside recently and got bit by them twice. xD
linpug • 25 July 2011 at 3:02 PM
My sister's teacher had a snake and the snake was rly nice
shelby • 25 July 2011 at 3:10 PM
@thepells4 - Awe that's cute. Crickets are bad for snakes actually :x We has a garter snake in our backyard once and it ate tadpoles we had. lol Garter snakes are actually really pretty and come in a ton of colors. Albinos are pretty. @linpug - Yeah, most snakes are nice. Even if they are wild-caught, most will tame down well.
linpug • 25 July 2011 at 3:13 PM
@shelby most wild snakes wont tame well if not with humans when young, and even then it still might not tame well, if it has the instincts to hunt and stuff
shelby • 25 July 2011 at 3:21 PM
@linpug - No it depends on the species. Corn snakes, indigo snakes, and a bunch more will tame well, even they were adults when caught. A lot of snakes are docile by nature. It also depends on how you treat them. If you show them you won't hurt them, then they will tame well. But, if you are rough with them when they are unsure of people, then they probably won't take it well. Some snakes wild caught won't adjust to captivity well though.I've caught wild, full grown snakes here, particularly corn snakes, and they don't try to bite at all. So, over-all, it does depend on the snake, but also, it really depends on how you treat the snake when you catch it.Although, it's bad to take snakes from the wild now, because wild populations are dwindling. Although if the wild populations are good, it should be okay to take a snake or two. Although for certain snakes, you need a special permit to take them from the wild. And for certain snakes species you need a permit to own them.
linpug • 25 July 2011 at 3:24 PM
it depends on both. Instinct- type of snake- wild or not. đ
shelby • 25 July 2011 at 3:28 PM
Yeah xD Even some domestically produced snakes don't do good in homes. Even if it mimics their wild environment.
linpug • 25 July 2011 at 4:05 PM
yep, i saw this snake in a home and it was just biting the glass and i was all like 0_0
chatial • 25 July 2011 at 9:53 PM
I like snakes a lot. (: Do big enough ones eat ferrets? đąMy ferret Cherrii ignores just about any other animal besides people. He loves people. But one time I had a cute little dog come over to play and the dog would try but Cherrii would just keep exploring.

@ShelbyI love snakes!I currently have a Texas Rat Snake named Nagini, he was about 2ft when I got him and he is at around 6ft now. I caught him when he was young and when I caught him he was in the act of eating my baby chicks so I thought instead of killing (like most people would) him I would just keep him as a pet đ I just love him so much! I will say though he is angered very easily... especially when he is in ecdysis state (which he is currently is) so around this time I don't mess with him much cause he has bitten me before once when I was told to force feed him (was told to just hold the pinky in his mouth until he swallowed on his own not shove it down his throat... just so you know) and the other time was when we were moving him from one house to another and I think the car ride made him nervous but I have learned the signs of when he wants to be messed with and when to avoid him... anyways that is a bit on my current snake... Oh, and my first snake (my only other one I ever had đ ) was a Ball Python who was named Manda (bought from a pet store and was one of the best pets I ever owned I had him for 5 years before he died of mouth rot âšī¸ ) I miss him dearly he never bit me once and actually enjoyed my company more than anything else and best of all (unlike me current snake) he never acted aggressive towards me or my other animals (not that I would have ever left him loose alone with my other animals)Do you feed your snakes live rats or frozen pinkies?
converse • 25 July 2011 at 10:54 PM
Had an encounter with several garter, garden and a Northern water snake (from a distance)but honestly would love to have a small one. đ
shelby • 26 July 2011 at 1:07 PM
@chatial - Big enough snakes will eat people xD Not that they go hunting for us. I love ferrets, I want one xD@furfur - Oh that's nice that you didn't kill him. I've seen scaleless texas rats, and it's pretty weird looking. You should look them up if you've never seen them. Ball Pythons are great snakes. I had one as well, but he escaped his cage and we didn't find him until it was too late. But they are still great pets. My boa likes to be out with me as well. I love it. He loves to be out đCurrently, I've fed my boa frozen and live mice. But my Kings have only had one feeding so far, and they each had one live pinkie. @converse - A Kingsnake or a corn snake would be a good starter snake. Corn snakes come in hundreds of color varieties, so you could probably find one that you really love. đ
converse • 26 July 2011 at 1:08 PM
Really? I didnt know corn snakes came in all hose colors!
chatial • 26 July 2011 at 1:33 PM
@Shelby Okay that's true. Anacondas eat just about anything. (x
shelby • 26 July 2011 at 3:24 PM
@converse -Yeah đ And they're still coming up with new colors, which is amazing!@chatial - xD Yeah. Plus reticulated pythons, possibly burmese pythons if they get big enough, same with rock pythons.
converse • 26 July 2011 at 4:37 PM
Wow...I would laugh if they ended up with a purple or a blue
furfur • 29 July 2011 at 4:53 PM
@ShelbyYeah scales rat snakes are pretty strange looking đ
