I got on a boat to Ark today. I had heard about it, of course; heard about that strange island, out in the middle of the sea. Thousands and thousands of miles away from the nearest landmass, much farther from others, with creatures living on it much unlike any animal previously known to man. And I had heard that once or twice a year, a boat would come to the shores of Eilin City. So I went there, and I stayed there for two months. I became worried that I might have to stay there a year; that maybe I had just missed the boat and it wouldn't be back for a long time, but I was lucky. The boat came three days later. The first thing I noticed about the captain was that he wore a big heavy coat and a hat, so you couldn't see much of him. He wore gloves, too. They were tan, and looked to be made of some sort of coarse cloth. It also looked like he wore a mask made out of that stuff. Either that or the shadows on his face from the hat were messing with me. There were a couple pins stuck in the gloves, and the mask; I couldn't understand that. Didn't it hurt? Why didn't he take them out? He didn't seem to notice them, though. I also noticed that he seemed to always keep a big, sharp cleaver with him. Usually in the big pocket of his trench coat. Not quite sure how it didn't just slice its way out or something, it looked really sharp and the coat was just cloth. Well, Ive finished writing for now, the only thing I can really do right now is stand at the side and watch the waves. It's pretty soothing, really.
