Yus, my teacher is horrible.Now on with the problems...1)At the Snack Shack, dried cherries cost $3.50 per pound. Dried apricots cost $1.50 per pound. The store's owner wants to make 1- pounds of a cherry-apricot mixture that costs $2.70 per pound. How many pounds of cherries and apricots should the owner use to make the mixture? ANSWERED!2) The sum of the digits of a two-digit number is 16. The first digit is 3 less than twice the second digit. What is the number?Edit: SOLVEDQuestion: HOW DO YOU GRAPH AN EQUATION THAT EQUALS X?!@twilight_raptor @metaphor@glazzie@cynder5@froggytails
cynder5 • 6 December 2012 at 11:20 PM
for question number two try3 and 13 or that's about it
puppyloverlauren • 6 December 2012 at 11:24 PM
@cynder5 I just need one answer I think@whitefire@elementalpaws@rainbowkitty@nitromegamer
cynder5 • 6 December 2012 at 11:25 PM
its 13 and 3
rainbowkitty • 6 December 2012 at 11:26 PM
@puppyloverlauren Sorry, hate math XDAlthough I think @tikimaki 's good at it 😸
puppyloverlauren • 6 December 2012 at 11:28 PM
@rainbowkitty oh, okai X3@cynder5 sorry, can you explain that to me? I'm taking a test tomorrow so Im really scared
nitromegamer • 6 December 2012 at 11:37 PM
@puppyloverlauren Dude. Im Icey. You know how much I suck at math. ><
puppyloverlauren • 6 December 2012 at 11:41 PM
@nitromegamer Oh, okai, thanks for replying XD @muzzydeath @shadowheart3 @april__@muzzydeath

Edit: NVM, that was wrong, I'll get back to you....Edit2: No... that was right.... 6 am and Im braindead... so yeah: x*3.5+(x-1)*1.5 is 2.7On my phone now....Edit3: The second can be solved using the equation x+(2x-3) is 16
jellyfishus • 7 December 2012 at 11:01 AM
Sorry to jump in but number 2 is 97.9+7 = 167*2=1414-9=3Sorry if you already had that answer.@puppyloverlauren

@puppyloverlauren 2) The sum of the digits of a two-digit number is 16.~we'll name the first digit x and the second y. so:#1) x + y =16 The first digit (x) is 3 less than twice the second digit (y). ~ x +3 = 2ySolve for x:x +3 -3 = 2y -3#2) x= 2y -3What is the number?~ substitute equation #2 in #1:(2y -3) +y =163y +3 -3 = 16+33y= 19y= 9.5Equation 1:x +y = 16x + 9.5 -9.5 =16 -9.5x= 6.5thats not working... It cant be 97 either:9 + 7 =16But 7 x2 =14. 14- 9 is 5 and not 3....

@puppyloverlauren2) The sum of the digits of a two-digit number is 16. The first digit is 3 less than twice the second digit. What is the number?Let:x = value of the second digit2x-3 = value of the first digitEquation:x + (2x-3) = 163x - 3 = 163x = 19x= 19/3Are you sure the problem was typed correctly? xD Because if it were, then I would say no solution, because 19/3 is not an integer and it can't be a digit in a number.@jellyfishusThe answer can't be 97; this is what you did:9+7 = 167*2=1414-9=3But in the last equation, (14-9=3), 14-9 does not equal 3, it equals 5.
puppyloverlauren • 7 December 2012 at 6:40 PM
@jellyfishus @twilight_raptor @2elle2 I got it all ^-^ the answer was 86. Thanks for helping!
twilight_raptor • 7 December 2012 at 6:47 PM
@puppyloverlauren how did u get 86?since 8+3 = 11which is not equal to 6x2 = 12
puppyloverlauren • 7 December 2012 at 6:48 PM
@twilight_raptor lol i don't know, I forgot 😸
naturegirl1999 • 7 December 2012 at 7:05 PM
what is the problem you want us to help you solve
monchhichi01 • 7 December 2012 at 7:38 PM
@puppyloverlauren 2) Steps: (I think) 1. Remember that the sum of these two digits is 162. Do this 6+6=?-3=?3. Then do this 16- what ever you got on ^4. Do the rest.. I already THINK I got the answer... 😸Hope I helped!
puppyloverlauren • 7 December 2012 at 7:51 PM
@monchhichi01 @naturegirl1999 I already got it all ^-^BUT i do have another question:How do you graph an equation that equals x?
celeste • 7 December 2012 at 7:53 PM
@puppyloverlaureny=x, right?The coordinates for that would be (1,1) (2,2), etc...Which would mean it's a 45 degree line.Does that answer your question?
ljacks • 7 December 2012 at 8:26 PM
@puppyloverlauren What does the equation look like?
jellyfishus • 8 December 2012 at 7:34 AM
@twilight_raptor @2elle2 @puppyloverlauren Eh, sorry, such an idiot.I always forget to do the sum backwards and then end up getting it wrong. Sorry. D:--If it's y=x it's as @celeste said.If it's something like x=1 (for example) it would be (1,0), (2,0), (3,0)so would be a vertical line going through 1 on the x axis. If it's something like x=y-1 then substitute.So if y=1 then the equation is x=1-1 = 0so would be (0,1)Then keep substituting to get your points and draw the line.

@jellyfishus thats ok x3 we all make mistakes
