@hemester

No, I meant "do NOT take a puppy from a shelter." I was explaining WHY you should take a puppy from a private/qualified breeder instead of a puppy shelter.

Im sorry for yelling. 😸

@awesomeness365 , yup, my White Shepherd came from a breeder, I think my german shepherd did too, she belonged to my stepdad actually, so I'm not entirely sure..

@Hemester [EDIT, you're not the one getting a dog, my bad XD]

@Awesomeness365 If you know a trustworthy adoption center, definitely adopt. Like you said, you keep dogs off the street and prevent them from being euthanized. Shelter pets are cheaper. People go to shelters all day to look at dogs, and sometimes people will walk them around for a minute. Usually the dogs are used to people. However, some of the dogs may have been abandoned or beaten in their past, so the may be weary of humans.
My dog was adopted from MSPCA. One of the ladies who worked there was in Puerto Rico. She was in pursuit of a different dog she had seen when she spotted our girl hiding under a car. The lady had a plate of chicken, and my dog loves chicken. XD
The lady kept the dog at her house with her family for a few weeks, so she grew used to human attention. She's 4 or 5 years old now, a whippet mix. She LOVES getting attention.
Shelter adopting is a big guessing game. But I'd say it's worth it 85% of the time. ^^

@rushingwater Shelter dogs aren't usually from puppy mills...there might be a few that were rescued from puppy mills, but most of them are dogs that were found running loose, abandoned, or given away by people who didn't want them/couldn't take care of them anymore. Shelters are a good place to get dogs! 😊 Pet stores and some backyard breeders are where you will find most puppy mill dogs. (I know you got your dog from a reputable breeder, which is good. 😊 )

I just wanted to make sure that was clear, so that people don't read it and think that maybe shelters are a bad place to get dogs. They're not! The places you should avoid are pet stores...they often get their animals from puppy mills. However, animal shelters and reputable breeders are good places to get dogs. 😊

1. I personally think you need to check out the dog first. Of course, more calm dogs would probably get along better with the cat. It's quite noisy when they fight as well >...<

2. Adopt. C: Save a life, girl.

3. GET A DOGGIIEEEE 8D
