Info:This is my hypothesis/theory of mermaids. Some of this is stupid in some minds. But I ask of you please to ponder this thoroughly and deeply. Here it goes...(I did TONS of research on this and if it doesn't move you...well...you make me sad!)

Stage 1~

We kind of looked like Chewbacca. I believe that's where the disorder that makes you grow hair all over you started.

Millions of years ago we overlooked the ocean. We were fascinated by the water. When we went to sleep in trees we overlooked it. But little did we know that for some of us...that was going to be our home one day. In the period of those millions of years ago...There was a massive natural disaster that happened all across the world.

WILL EDIT LATER

I have seen that show, but very little of it was actually true. They discovered no body and the government didn't take away any of their research. The only thing that actually truly happend in real life was that they heard some odd noise on the radar. The video was also faked too. This was no more than a fictional show with very little truth mixed in. They made it to get alot of publicity and stir up false ideas. It's a fun idea to toy with, but the truth is they just don't exist.

I hate to tell you this, but I do not believe in mermaids. I've looked, watched, read, ect. about mermaids, chubaca, ghosts, big foot, and loch ness monster. I still however do not believe in ANY of them. Many photos of these mythical creatures are proven to be photo manipulated or is something completely else, basically they're fake.

So, if can show me actual proof that has not been proven to be photo manipulated, then yes I MIGHT believe these tall tales.

Ahem well...they are not going to search the ocean for something that "might" not be real

@lightkiss

Exactly, you don't search for something that isn't real.

Well, I don't beleve in mermaids as humanoids with fish tails, but I do think Ningen might exist. I mean, why not?

I suppose it's possible for them to be real, but I find it quite unlikely.
This site does a good job of explaining why it was a faked documentary:

The problem s....maybe it is rea.

I don't believe. There are no real sightings or any documents/ videos untampered. Also those odd noise on the radio was more than 99.9% a sea creature we already know about. Also if they were real, the scientific reasons like Genes would create a very small chance of that happening, since the gene would be a homozygous recessive, and even if somebody was heterozygous for this trait it would be taken away because the human trait (Which would be homozygous dominant) would overpower the trait, unless there was incomplete dominance, which has an extremely rare rate of happening.

xDD SORRY FOR ALL THE SCIENTIFIC SPEAK!

I only believe those that come with solid proofs, no speculations, no 'what ifs', and no unproven theories, and so far I don't see any 😋 I am not being stubborn, but reasonable, since I don't see anything solid to hold on it is only natural that I don't believe in mermaids.

Er...
What?

Deleted • 1 January 2013 at 6:10 PM

@meixiaotian Lol. Basically Homozygous Dominant, is like an uppercase B so if your genes are Homozygous Dominant, it would be BB and you would have that trait, so human would be Dominant. Homozygous recessive is like a lower case b. So mermaid would be homozygous recessive. So if you had a bb gene, that is the only way you could be a mermaid (Which would be like really rare for a good reason its like having... blue hair xDD) Heterozygous is like a Bb. The uppercase be would basically hide the lowercase, so you would be human.

Uh...
I kinda get some of it...
I guess...
There's a gene saying what species you are?

Deleted • 1 January 2013 at 6:14 PM

@meixiaotian Well.. No.. If merpeople were real.. there would be.. I suck at explaining it. It's like.. 10th grade science. xDD Its more advanced then my grade. xDD

Well, I'll have to wait a bit until figuring it out.
My school's science is very sad.

I think it's possible for mermaids to exist... Somewhat.
Mermaids have tails, which is a big change from legs. So they have a slightly fast evolution rate, or maybe have been evolving for a really really long time.
However, if legs somehow changed into a tail, then the upper body would change too. It would have a lot of time to change into something aquatic. The tail has a very different style from the humanoid body, which isn't very aerodynamic.
To swim effectively, the only way I think they could still keep humanoid would be with a seahorse kind of tail, because it works with an upward-pointing body.
So humans could have gotten into the sea and changed, but I don't think they would be the exact idea of mermaids, with dolphin tails and a human upper body.
