A few of you might remember me considering whether I should do Japanese or Latin as a subject this year.

In the end, I chose Latin, as it'll be a subject that I'd want to continue with on my HSC. However, I don't want to abandon Japanese (since I'm definitely not quitting Art)

I was wondering, does anybody know where I can go to learn Japanese? Alternatively, can anyone teach me? o3o

I don't think I'll be speaking it, just reading and writing (probably listening too), since I want to use the Vocaloid program (but with Japanese songs), as well as read and watch anime and manga XD

Can someone help? 😋

I've caught on a few words, but I don't know how to write or read it... I've just watched anime. xD It grows on you.

@celeste You could try class books themselves if you aren't serious about learning how to speak Japanese. I am pretty sure some high schools lend out books even if you aren't in one of the classes, just as long as if you return it by the end of the year.

If you are serious about this I'd recommend going to classes or getting a tutor. Getting someone to teach you over the internet is not a great idea. Yes, you do pick up phrases and words here and there like what @newlife said, knowing a few phrases is different from actually trying to learn the language and apply it in real life.

I take Japanese! We're still learning lots of vocab, but we've finished the hiragana and katakana alphabets, so we're going to begin kanji soon. (those are the characters they write with)
I could help teach you!

1. Watch anime.
2. Rosetta Stone.
3. Online. You can learn basic Japnaese and then apply what you learn by watching anime!
4. Watch Japanese TV, shows, movies, etc.
5. Anything Japanese ^^

@celeste If you have an iPhone/iPod/Android you can get the app called Mindsnacks. I'm using it to learn French. I'm not sure if they have a Japanese one yet, but I know they're coming out with it soon if not. The also have Mandarin if you're interested in that.

It's free for the first 'level' but it costs $5 for all fifty. I paid for mine and I think it's completely worth the money, considering that you'll be pretty much fluent by the time you complete all of the levels. It's really fun too, you just play games and all of the words end up getting stuck in your head 😊

I speak fluent Japanese, but it's hard teaching on the Internet because the alphabet's different.

I'm learning a few languages. There are some good apps for the iPad/iPod/iPhone etc... that can help with learning the language. ^^
