Compound 21 ~ Literate RP

Welcome to your haven, Lab Rats, it's not a safe one. Safe doesn't exist in this field.

Compound 21, or C21 is a group of scientists devoted to creating a new race of super-humans. They find children and teens on the street that no one will miss, usually orphans or disowned teenagers, or even juvenile delinquents and the experiment on them to give them powers such as telekinesis or controlling water. These super-humans, or "rats" are created to survive in a post-apocalyptic world.

Some have lived here for their whole lives, and some have lived here since they became teens. Most don't know what the world is like anymore. Most haven't seen sunlight for decades. But you want out. And you will, on any costs, get out.

Organization:


Coats: The scientists and doctors. Brilliant people who (usually) know what they're doing, they're reckless with their experiments. Most are blood-thirsty and unstable, only coming here to watch the rats suffer.

Rats: Scientifically modified people that have been kidnapped to be used as science experiments. They are dragged into a testing chamber to be tested on various things once a year. This day is known as Judgement Day. Unstable or weak rats will be brought to fight to the death with other rats. The winner will be kept alive.

Staff: Takes care of the housekeeping like, cooking, cleaning, etc. They also bring out the carcasses on judgement days. Some are rats who have passed all their judgement days, granted the chance to become staff, while others are just normal people. Staff will usually have a better relationship with the rats, but rarely the staff befriend the rats.

- Only two people can have the same powers!

Power: She can create and control fire. She can also turn her whole body into fire, but that takes energy, and if she gets extinguished, she'll die. If only her fingers are fire and the get extinguished, they will essentially be gone forever,
Occupation: Rat

Appearance: Shaula is a fiery and spunky looking girl with fiery features. Her skin is pale, like white stone with freckles dappling all along her face and body. She has a long wave of curly and tangled hair that cascades down past her shoulders, like a waterfall that floods down to her waist. It descends down tangled and free with an elegant but rebellious grace, framing her soft figure sharply. Her cheeks are accented by a slight blush and several freckles that speckle her face like stars speckle a night sky, and her lips are full-bodied and tan. Her nose is slightly pushed in, and her bangs frame her green eyes that are brimming with defiance. She's skinny and tall and she only has nine fingers, one of them got extinguished.

Personality: Cool and collected, Shaula rarely lets her temper get ahead of her. When her temper does flare, though, be careful! She'll go crazy. She break things, smash things, burn things, and kill whoever gets in her way. She rarely shows any happiness and she has trouble warming up to people. She HATES admitting that she's wrong and apologizing.

History: Her mother was one of the staff members who worked at C21. When her mother gave birth, she ran away to protect Shaula from becoming a rat, but by the time Shaula was four, they found her mom and brought Shaula in. She was the first successful rat, the ones before her had all died or become so mad that they killed themselves.

Other: She is absolutely TERRIFIED of water.

Power: Jackson has extreme and dangerous strength, which even he has a hard time controlling. If he gets angry enough he can cause destruction on a massive scale, but it leaves him tired and dazed.

Gender: Male

Occupation: Rat

Appearance: Jackson is a bit taller than average height, and stands very straight. He is thin yet slightly muscular, and has a light tanned look that's always been there. He has an oval-esque face that comes down into a sort of point at his chin. His chestnut brown hair is spiked up in every which way, but his bright and always determined blue eyes stand out over the rest of his features.

Personality: Jackson is a very bold and disrespectful individual, and has never opened up to anyone in his lifetime. Of all things, Jackson despises apologies, girls and debts. Most likely because deep inside he's afraid of them.

History: For most of his life, he was an infamous delinquent before he reached the age of 16 when he began to grow up and mature. He's still known for it and is usually avoided, as he sometimes has moments of frustration and anger that lead to various things being destroyed with his immense strength. He remembers little of his life before he was brought in, but he's never known a normal life and has absolutely no regrets

Other: His favorite thing in the world is Pepsi cola. He swears by it.

Power: The ability to create ice in any shape he wants, no matter the temperature, so long as there is a suitable amount of water in the air. However, it will quickly melt and evaporate if he doesn't concentrate or stops looking at it. It's easier, stronger and lasts longer if he starts small and lets it grow, but takes a lot longer. His own body is naturally cooler than the average human's, and so he can withstand far colder temperatures than normal, but has a very low tolerance for heat.
Gender: Male
Occupation: Rat
Appearance: Light blond hair; for the most part short and constantly messed up so that it sticks upwards, and with jaw-length bangs framing either side of his face. His eyes are a pale grey-blue and shadowed from sleepless nights. He has sharp, pronounced features, and rather dark eyebrows and lashes. After being stuck inside the compound for nearly a year, his usually tanned skin has lost its colour and turned pale. He was always a lean type, but is now alarmingly skinny.
Personality: Elian likes to take things slowly and carefully, to the point where he is slightly paranoid about double-checking, always thinking he's forgotten something, and hates being hurried, sudden or distracting movements, loud voices and untidiness. He often thinks mathematically and prefers not to take unnecessary risks or leave things to chance. Doesn't like change.

History: Lived in a small orphanage which had more children than it could afford and gladly got rid of him. As a baby he was rescued by a fireman, from the 11th floor of an apartment building which mysteriously burned down. The room he was found in was not rented or bought, and no-one came to claim him. The apartment block was called Oroca, hence his last name.
Other: He failed school because he couldn't stand the sound of the white-board marker squeaking, other students fidgeting and whispering, or the pet hamster rustling about in the hay.

Power: She has incredible smarts. She can calculate many advanced problems, and in science she can solve anything factoring in all variables and other things. This comes with a price though. Sometimes ask her a simple question and her brain will overthink it and she will spend hours trying to calculate it and eventually she will start to rock back and forth until she is given a high level problem that she can solve is seconds. She is also very anti-social because of it.
Gender: Female
Occupation: Rat
Appearance: She is tall at 5'11'' and has an a-line figure with very unnoticeable hips. She has brown hair with natural red highlights that goes down to her shoulders. She has freckles on her cheeks and has a slight line of them going across her nose. She has blue eyes with a slight gold ring around her pupils and grey specks. Her skin is a light tan color even though she rarely see's the sun. She has petite hands and her nails always end up bitten off. She has huge feet and wears a 12 in shoes. She wears a large in the clothes that are standard issue. She has good muscle definition even though she isn't very athletic or strong at all.

Personality: Emma is -as it says in the power section- anti-social. She racks her brain very hard even when people just ask her 'How are you' She is very spacey and only really pays attention when she is asked a question. She doesn't have many friends because she always is saying things people don't understand. Likes: She likes history, science, and math. She also likes animals that aren't to big. Dislikes: She dislikes exercise, sunlight, many foods, snakes, reading, people, girly things, the guards, and adults. She is afraid of snakes, bats, horses(Do you know how many people die by horse attack a year? I don't..). She isn't afraid of sharks though.
History: Emma was an orphan since she was little. Her mother was a 20 year old woman who didn't want children. She was sold to the orphanage instead. She was in school until she turned 9, when she dropped out. She hated school because ironically she was not smart at all. Her IQ wasn't even half what it should have been. She was popular before and wasn't anti-social at all.
Other: She wishes she could go back and change her life so she wasn't pulled here.
