Hey guys, forgive me if this isn't in the right topic to put this in.I might be going to an anime convention in Chicago this summer. It's either 'Anime Central' or 'Anime Midwest'. The Anime Central con is supposed to be HUGE.I was wondering if I could get any pointers from people who've been to one before 😸I was planning to go as Dave from Homestuck, I know Homestuck isn't an anime, but is it still acceptable? Thanks

It's acceptable 😃 My friends went before to a Fanime Con as characters from Homestuck, and they said there was a huge group. Homestuck has a pretty large amount of fans, so there's bound to be some other Homestuckers there ^^

@oranberry100 it's more than acceptable!I don't have many pics but the anime conventions here are ASL and Banzai, a lot of people posted pics from banzai here - http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/anime+banzai If you want I can try to post pics if I go to ASL this year to show you how many homestucks are at conventions, it doesn't matter if it's an anime or not ^^

@oranberry100 I've been to them~ If you're looking for tips, here's some I can give you~ ❤️- Eat at someplace OUTSIDE the convention. It's usually extremely expensive to eat in the convention, so you can find someplace outside to eat...like subway or something like that...it is MUCH cheaper. If you don't want to do that, then you can pack your own food like noodles and rice to eat at your hotel(if you are staying at a hotel o.o).- Be prepared for craziness. ^-^ It's the good kind of crazy, but I know when I first went I was overwhelmed by the amount of cosplayers and people at the convention. Just roll with it and hope you make friends. 😸 Which you will.- I've seen a lot of things people cosplay that is "not" anime. Considering the fanbase Homestuck has, most Anime fans like it, so there's bound to be cosplayers. lol So no worries!Uhhh...Lemme think...- Watch youtube videos of anime conventions to get a feel for what its going to be like and they also have some tips you can watch on there too. ^-^Hope that helps~!

I've only gone to four anime conventions before, but here's what I've learned (though others have already pointed out some of these things.) 😊It's always extremely crowded, and can be very stressful. Make sure you do some research beforehand, and take a look at the events there will be so you don't get lost and confused.Conventions are almost always better with friends. Last time, I went with my sister and friend, and we made a new friend as well. We had a great time. ^^ If you're not going with anyone, you can make friends while you're there.I'd also recommend bringing food if you can, as it can be hard to come by or expensive.Make sure your cosplay is comfortable; during my first convention, the wig gave me a huge headache, and I was close to fainting. Nor was I very confident in my cosplay at the time, whereas now I've improved and can put on the wig comfortably. (:If a convention has something to do with anime, comics, or anything similar, you can expect Homestuck cosplayers. During the last anime convention, I believe there were more many Homestuck cosplayers than those from any one anime or manga. xD Lastly, don't be afraid to talk to people and make friends. 😊 I hope you have fun!
