MistCloud catches the scent of alkub, she ran up the slope of a nearby mountain, food was even scarcer now. She sniffed again, foo! Suddenly, she was unsure, another tasma, and an olimpt. So many! She made a mental note to visit again, and ran down the mountain and set off to her home.@isablah

MistCloud raced up her mountain and set out hunting again, she wondered when the drought would end, hunting just for the water was slightly wasteful, and the dew would never last. She quickly stalked and killed a young deer, whose mother had fallen prey to the heat. Then she dragged the carcass aways from her cave, and howled, singing the song of territory, and of family. Then she headed back to her cove, hoping her child was all right.

She fell asleep by her pup. Lightning crashed overhead, thunder boomed. She raced outside to the river. It overflowed with water. Her wet fur clung to her skin and she danced in the rain. She drank from the river, but then saw another figure drinking. She growled at it. More came and she growled even more. Through the flashes of lightning, she saw a battle in the distance.Mother stirred in her sleep, while I suckled at her drying milk. I knew almost nothing, just the smell of her and the feel of her fur. The milk was running out, I suckled at the other teats, but there was very little left. The only knowledge in my little world was that food was running out, slowly, very slowly, but still running out.@isablah
