I wrote this for English class. I ❤️ the rhyme scheme I used 😸

New Green

Happiness, hope, joy, delight
Optimistic smile shining bright

In a jungle or on a pear
Unmarred by a juicy bite
The unripe fruit thats hanging there

On the tips of a sapling pine
Not yet grown to towering height
Yearning, striving to the air
Or infant leaves of a spreading vine

Not on a glacier dusted with snow
Not in a cornfield struck with blight
Not in desert suns burning glare
Not in salty ocean brine
Not on bare limbs of a dead tree, no

Loved by those who bloom in spring
Liked by those who enjoy the sight
Of sprouting new life everywhere
Desired by those who plant a line
Of tiny blossoms yet to grow
Enjoyed after months of winter sting

Discussed by those who love the earth
Discussed by seeds who await the light
And plan to arise after winter bare
Discussed by trees who know in time
The young ones will join their ranks when grown
Discussed in branches by birds taking wing
Discussed by those who love rebirth

Young and new
Lacking might
But not scared
Innocence refined
Love and hope
Nave little thing
Laughter and mirth
The courage of youth

In springtime seen
Fresh and bright
In ice-cold, rare
Barest shine
Life and growth
Growth and spring
Spring and earth
Earthy hue
