So, for our adjudication in orchestra, we're playing a song that has a viola solo. And it's my first, so I'm freaking. And also the pressure that if I screw up we may not go to states also bugs me. So, anybody have any advice for a confidence boost for a solo? I can play it perfectly (with vibrato and such) when I'm infront of my peers, but I crack under pressure sometimes, and that pressure will be the judges.

@whispers I would practice ever day/whenever you have free time. Try to focus on your instrument and don't even think about the people looking at you. Imagine it's your peers and your family watching you instead of the judges. Or just forget that they are even there. I hate solos for chorus and I do all of these things. For me it works, I just get lost in the lyrics and forget anyone is there. I'm a good singer, but before I used these things my voice would crackle and I would feel horrible for letting my peers and family down.
