I really want to save up for pet rats, but there's only one problem.

Since rats are very social animals, they are supposed to have another rat live with them.

I'm pretty sure my parents will allow one rat, but I don't know if they'll let me have two.

Just in case, I was wondering if anyone had one pet rat and how that's going.

Please tell me what you think! I'm only really looking for feedback from actual rat owners (either previously or now) so that the answers are 100% true.

Thanks!

@cotton

I had a solitary pet rat before, and he was really social. 😸

He always climbed the bars when I went in my room. He didn't really seem lonely at all, he usually slept throughout the whole day.

I'm not sure about them living in groups though, I see them in the store in groups of the same gender all sleeping on top of eachother, but I don't know a lot about the pair part. Sorry!

@borgore

Okay, great!

I was on petsmart.com and it said they need a friend of the same gender, along with a bunch of other websites. Some people said they only had one, though.

I just wanted to make sure it was okay. Thanks so much! 😊

@cotton

You're very welcome! 😸

Good luck getting some, too! They make great little pets. c:
