As they padded out of camp, Dappleshade coughed. "Actually...I don't know, really, why or how it happened...but things happen to me. Once, I grew another tail...once I turned green. Nothing has ever happened more than once; I've never just - shown up somewhere before." She looked away. "ShadowClan doesn't know...and I didn't want WindClan to, either. I didn't know what your Clan would do to me, if they knew. Two cats, though, are just two cats. I knew you were still suspicious, and I thought you deserved the whole truth. But please...don't tell your Clanmates. You're the first cats I've told. I don't really want to tell anyone...but I'd prefer if my Clan doesn't find out at a Gathering when WindClan announces it. Hey, Dappleshade, why does all of WindClan know something that we don't?..."

Fawnpaw listened to Dappleshade's confession with narrowed eyes. Another tail? Turned green? All of these sounded completely ridiculous but she said nothing. Instead she stayed silent and listened to the gossiping chatter of the sparrows.

Dappleshade glanced piercingly at Fawnpaw. "Once, I started to be able to understand mice," she murmured. "It wore off quickly, like they always do, but it was unnerving, hearing prey talk like they were cats...Am I the only cat who has ever been able to understand things besides cats? Has anything like that happened to you?"

As Fawnpaw listened to Dappleshade, she began to hear something familiar. The cat used to be able to speak to other animals. She said it as if it were the craziest thing she'd done. But was it that weird? Couldn't every cat hear what Fawnpaw could hear? The lazy mumblings of the bees, the fearful whispering of the rabbits. Fawnpaw looked at Dappleshade in alarm but soon hid it with a blank gaze. "I don't know what you're talking about..."

Featherpelt stood up and streched. She looked around the nursery. Dappleshade was gone. "Wierd. Where is she?" She muttered before walking out and looking for the queen.
"Dappleshade!" She yowled out bounding out of camp.

Littlestar woke up at the sound of yowling and walked out of camp to see Featherpelt running out of camp.

Pebbleclaw was keeping silent this whole time as they escorted Dappleshade. The things that happen to her were unnerving, but what was more unnerving was that he can actually relate to her.

So he wasn't alone. He's not the only cat who has these things.

"HURK!" Pebbleclaw lurched, then collapsed to his side. The white tom started to shake violently, coughing and spluttering as if he was drowning. His green eyes looked around frantically until they reached Dappleshade..

"Mommy..?" he whispered, as if in pain. "Help.."

The sun was at it's highest peak. Oakfoot went back to hunting again with his companion, Wildheart, just as Dashstar instructed.

"Let's meet up here before sun down," he meowed, scenting a big tree. "May StarClan give us good freshkill."

Dappleshade looked Fawnpaw in the eyes. 'But was it that weird? Couldn't every cat hear what I can hear? The lazy mumblings of the bees, the fearful whispering of the rabbits...' It didn't normally happen so soon after another one, but it sometimes did. "Are you sure?" she asked the apprentice. "Are you - aah!" She fell to the ground. "No!" she cried. "Why now? Why can't I have my kits when I'm not in the middle of - aah!" Another spasm passed through her. "No..."


Wildheart nodded, then padded in the direction of Twolegplace. Hey, it wasn't like there was no prey in that direction, and just because she was going that way to hunt didn't mean she was going to Twolegplace...

Fawnpaw jumped back as suddenly both her mentor and Dappleshade collapsed to the ground. Dappleshade was having her kits and she didn't know what was happening to Pebbleclaw. Shocked, Fawnpaw raced back to the camp to get the medicine cat and her apprentice.

On the way, she couldn't help shake off that look Dappleshade had given her. It was a look of understanding, as if she had known Fawnpaw had experienced the same thing.

As Fawnpaw raced back to WindClan camp to get help, Pebbleclaw was dragging himself pitifully towards Dappleshade's side. His green eyes were dilated, and were glazed over.

"M-mo.." he whimpered, reaching for her. His throat tightened, and was in much pain as Dappleshade was. "M-mee.. I-i can't.. M-m-mom m-mee.."

Then finally he took a deep breath and his eyes went back to normal again. Realizing he's lying on the ground, he picked himself up frantically, keeping on his toes. Then he realized that Dappleshade was in pain.

Great StarClan, where's Fawnpaw? He hoped she didn't saw what happened to him. All he remembered was blacking out and then he was on the ground.. No cat should know.

"O-okay, um, D-dappleshade, let's have you breathing properly, okay?" he said, trying to handle the situation. "Breathe in.. Breathe out.."

Oakfoot was completely unaware of what Wildheart was doing. He was really far off from where Wildheart was going, that's for sure.

Dappleshade gritted her teeth. "Can you...can you get Starpelt? She should be in the medicine cat's den..." She gasped a cry of pain as a third spasm rippled through her.


Wildheart padded through the underbrush until she arrived at the Twolegplace - or more specifically, her old Twoleg den. No...house. Her old house...She glanced around, but couldn't see anyone, whether cat or Two - human. The words were coming back to her after so long going unused. She closed her eyes, then opened them. "Mom..."

Featherpelt heard a small wail on the far side of the territory. Very faint but she oculd her what sounded like multiple cats tlaking all at once all in mono tone. She bolted out of the Shadowclan borders next to the lake staying on the far side near the lake until the voices bacame clearer. No one was talking. She looked around and saw Dappleshade laying on her side.

Starpelt saw Featherpelt bolt out knowing that something was wrong she chased after the queen. She stopped and almost crashed into her at the sight of Dappleshade. She slid past the cats and layed down next to her. "Deep breaths." She stroked a paw on the queen's side. "They will be born soon just stay calm." She informed the queen.

Dappleshade glanced at Starpelt with wide eyes. "Oh thank StarClan you're here. I - aah!" With a final yowl of pain, the kits were born.

Pebbleclaw just watched on the side, keeping his distance. More from ShadowClan? He can't take this, but at least it's their business now. Still, he stuck around just in case they needed help carrying the kits. It wouldn't do if his leader scolded him for not carrying out his duties.

Oakfoot had returned to the meeting tree from his part of the hunting. Two mice and a squirrel this time. Not bad. He checked if Wildheart had anything.. No? "Hmm.." Oakfoot started getting a little worried. Perhaps she's just having a rough hunt from where she was, but it was still weird. Greenleaf was full of good fresh-kill, and he saw no reason why Wildheart would delay..

He brushed it off as he buried the fresh-kill for later. Oakfoot decided to catch one more fresh-kill to give her some time.

Fawnpaw returned with Starpelt and Fernpaw, the medecine cat and her apprentice. Pebbleclaw was strangely back to normal but Dappleshade was kitting. Fawnpaw went to get a stick for the queen to bite on while she was having kits. As she ran closer to the moors of the camp, she could only think about Pebbleclaw's strange actions. One second he was writhing in pain and the next he was up as if nothing had happened. Maybe she ought to see Starpelt about him. After all, an apprentice had to look after their mentor when something was wrong.

Starpelt looked around. "You." She called to Pebbleclaw. "Get her some moss now. Quickly." She added. She looked around for Fawnpaw. The apprentice had left for something.

Featherpelt stood up and glanced around for a way to help Dappleshade. As the first kit was born she darted forward and licked it until she felt it breathe. Then she tucked it near the queen's belly. She sat a few mouse-lengths watching the queen like she was a piece of freshkitt.

Pebbleclaw felt his ears flatten against his head. Ugh, what gave this ShadowClan cat the right to order him around. However, faced with his apprentice, he might as well keep a good image for her to follow. Reluctantly, he went to the nearest tree, finding any moist areas. He found some medium sized rocks that had moss growing on there, and he started to roll them up into a ball.

Before he turned around, he saw a tiny black and brown marbled kit sitting next to him, watching what he was doing in curiousity. Pebbleclaw flinched.. He knew this. He knew this was going to happen. His eyes darted from Featherpelt to Starpelt and then back to this kit again.

It was a spirit. A ghost. One of the kits Dappleshade will bear is already dead.

"You can see me?" the kit asked in a high-pitched voice, and Pebbleclaw just tried to do his best to ignore the tiny little thing, but it kept reappearing in front of him every time he tried to pass it by.

"Wait! You can! Wait!" Pebbleclaw flattened his ears again, as if trying to mute the ghostly kit.

Pebbleclaw dropped the ball of moss to Starpelt. "Th-There." he meowed, while his shoulder twitched involuntarily. He was clearly disturbed of the ghost kit who was trying its very best to catch his attention.

FEatherpelt looked suspiciously at Pebbleclaw. She kept seeing a brown and black kit. "You can see me?" It asked. She shook her ehad away from Pebbleclaw's face.

Starpelt nodded and palced the moss in front of the queen.
