HELP!!!!

I really dissapointed, so heres what happened, I'm on a contest on my birthday and because of it, i'm not going to be home the whole day, instead of my home state (New York) I'm going to Washington (the state 😋). I tried really hard to get in though. Only one class gets to try out - the gifted class in 5th grade. I took a test and scored 4th. The top 5 people get the privelege to be in it.

I'm going to be really tired and I will be in a separate secret cell for the competition so I won't get any presents or any "happy Birthday" from anybody, instead be stressed out by the pressure of having your whole school depend on you.

So what do you think, should I participate or not?

This seems like a rare opportunity that you may get only once, whereas your birthday will hopefully occur multiple times in the future. Take it.
I participate in lots of competitions (I was "gifted" but my views on American education should not be discussed here because I will start yelling) and they usually result in me missing a lot of opportunities to hang out with my friends. That's okay, though, because my friends will still be there after the competition. It all depends on you, though. If you feel that this birthday is super important to you and you just have to have presents on that day, then by all means skip the contest.
You could always just get presents beforehand and have people sing the birthday song to you the day before.

If this is a once in a lifetime thing, go ahead and do it. Birthdays can be celebrated late or early.

I agree with redfire77 and barlights. 😊 This could be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, whilst birthdays happen annually. Not only that, but you an celebrate early or late. And I must've forgotten to mention that going to a new state could be really cool and fun! I would still take my time and think about it, though. As I usually do, I never end up going even after a long time of thought. Just choose whichever you'd like more. I'm sure you won't regret it, whatever you choose, though your chances of regretting are higher if you choose to not go, I'm sure.

I barely understood the description of this problem, but... Just because you won't be home, or get anything for your birthday on your birthday, doesn't mean that you won't get them either early or later. You can turn whatever age whenever you like, because you've already got years 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and so on, inside of you, but if you only get one chance to do this contest, go for it! It's much better than any birthday! (I think);)
