I'm curious.

How many of you know if you're going or what you're going to study when you go?

Or if you're already attending, what are you studying?

>_>

@jazzyleia

That's awesome!

My problem starting University was I wanted to do everything and I couldn't choose one thing.

Either way, I'm doing my Business Administration. With Marketing, Accounting, and Management classes.

But I'm also taking Psychology and Creative Writing. Crazy times, crazy times. XD

Ah. Nice! I have to drive over an hour to get to school most days. And some of my classes are late night ones so it wasn't fun in the winter time. Least that's over now! My semester is almost over too.

That sounds awesome though. 😃 I took a year off from school, much to my parents dislike. XD They thought if I took a year off, I'd never go back.

@honeykam

That's really cool! Any idea why you want to do that?

@april__ I'm only starting high school next year but I think I want to get Pre-Meds requirements done, probably major in Biology (for medical school), and minor in music. 😋 I really want to be a doctor/nurse/pediatrician/work in a hospital. But in case that doesn't work out, I could be in symphonies. o3o

@april__ But I don't have much interest in Biology atm. i: My biology teacher grades us by making us play games in the computer lab. OH, but she did teach us the word inertia. one of the few things i really learned. i got the word inertia right on my English spelling test. .___.

you probably know this, but yeah, I'm in Uni. I actually just changed my major to English (from Bio).
Don't really know what I want to do with my life beyond this yet, though.

@metaphor

I'm at loss for what I want to do. And it's making me anxious. I'm taking classes with no knowledge of what they'll be for. XD I wish I could figure it out!

Are you enjoying the change in major?

@trish

Also, fyi, you don't have to major in Bio to go to Med school. I learned that at the Bio major seminar I had to take when I was a bio major (not that I want to go to med school xD).

@april__ I'm in poli sci. Probs switching though, to wildlife bio. I don't want a prep. degree.

Definitely! I have a lot of pressure on me because, well, I actually am kinda good at this subject (analyzing texts and such), but it's a good kind of pressure compared to when I was in Bio...where I'm pretty sure the professors were wondering what the heck I was doing in a science major. I just didn't belong, and it took some convincing from a certain awesome professor I had my first semester to see that there really was no shame in changing my major to English. I actually thank her for encouraging me to do it; otherwise, I probably wouldn't have.😊

Good for you! That's awesome. ^^ Glad you found something that's working for you.

I really want to change what I'm doing, but every time I bring it up, everyone just frowns at me and tells me that I'm smart and not to throw it away for something like writing, or interior design. And I kno wit's my life, but... XD

@april__

honestly, that's how I felt before I changed my major and that was actually a large part of what was holding me back. I was talking to an old friend of mine who goes to a different uni in my state, and he was telling me to stay in bio because that's where the jobs are and that his friend who's an English major has to take all these extra classes and such, which did kind of scare me at first. But after I did some research, I found out that a mere BS in Bio wouldn't really make me any better off, especially if I can't get internships if I struggle just to make C's (which was happening in my science classes). Plus, I'd probably end up having to go to grad school for the particular field I was interested in (Ornithology), and again...if I have mediocre grades in something I wasn't very passionate about, how would I really succeed? It would be hard to find people to write letters of recommendation and all that.

I'm not saying I'm for sure safe in English. Oh, definitely not. But if I'm going to enter a field that's highly competitive, I'd rather know that I'm fighting for something I have a chance at.

I was studying for my Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Biochemistry, but I left two years into my degree course. It was numerous things but mainly disillusion in what I was studying but I may reapply for something once I realise what I really want to do. XD

I'm about to show my age here. But I'm working on my second degree. The first time was for Media and Art. After graduating and having jobs both related and completely not (which is what I currently have) I decided to go back for a second undergrad degree in business to compliment it and what I had been doing. 😊

Don't worry if you don't know where you're going. Just keep your head up, and if it's truly a passion--don't let it go. If it's not--you have your entire life to learn. Do not necessarily what makes you the happiest, but the most fulfilled or content. If you despise it, there is no sense. If you love it but it leaves you in a awkward position, try to work around it.

This has been sagely advise from the old-woman-of-the-site. 😊

I'm studying English Lit, currently, but I was a psychology major previously.
Going into college, I had no idea, really, what I wanted to study, so I just bounced around and did my general studies for a while. It is perfectly all right to go undeclared for a year and explore the gen eds and electives to see if you can find something you're passionate about learning or working it!
