I was thinking about holding a contest soon and I was just wondering how many people participate in such things and what would motivate you to participate. Any ideas for prizes?

Thank you in advance for any opinions and ideas! 😉

@lightnigember Take a look at what other (popular) contests are offering. (If you want to pick out a few, just look at the ones with 100+ posts in the General Discussion section.) 😉

Usually CC, high amounts of EC and CC creatures are the best prizes that people look for. They can also be things that are commonly found on people's wishlists - again, usually CC creatures.

Also, prizes for EVERYONE (regardless of their scores - or you can put a limit if you want to 'motivate' them) are good. Usually 10,000 EC is reasonable for "everyone's a winner" prizes, but it depends - obviously if you want more people, you can raise the amount; but then you also lose a lot of EC.

How many people is different; it depends on the prizes and difficulty of contests. The easier ones are more likely to attract more people (for obvious reasons). If you have a cove with more than 50 creatures, chances are some people won't be bothered to participate.

I've seen contests have about 30 to 70 people attending, but it can be lower, depending. Timing is also everything - if you do a contest during the holidays, people are more likely to join because they're available.

These aren't answering your questions, but a couple of tips:
- Make sure to reserve some sort of post or text space to keep track of the points. They can track their own points, but it's easy for them to make typos or even cheat. An easy way to find out is to count the days that the contest has lasted and multiply that number by the amount of points you can earn (maximum) each day.
- An obvious one, but keep active and check around the thread.

I can provide more tips if you really want them, but I hope this stocks you up for advice. xD I'm going to run out of space as well. e_e

@karamel wow! Thank you sooo much for your imput! 😃 you've givin me a lot to think about.

I was thinking about having a CC creature as a prize for having fed/clicked 5 of my creatures for a predetermined amount of time. I was going to have 1st 2nd and 3rd prizes with points as the way to keep track...

Does this sound like something people would particapate in? Id just hate to waste a cc critter lol.

@lightnigember You're welcome, I'm happy to help. ❤️ Although it seems that the character limit has been upped. o_o

That sounds good! But it would probably be advised to have a list of the 5 creatures (not any 5).

I can't guarantee it for you, but in hypothetical circumstances, it would probably work. 😉

@lightnigember No problem, I'm glad I was of some sort of use to you. 😋

If you ever need any more help on this, feel free to ping me on here or just post on my wall/PM me. Running a contest would be too intimidating for me, so I'm best to just cheer on the sidelines xD
