'Ello~ So, I'm getting a new set of violin strings (Corelli Alliance Vivace) as a backup set, since I'll be playing for about four hours straight at this music thing I'll be doing. I'm using Dominants right now, but I kinda want to change them to my Corelli Alliances, and use the Dominants as my backups. Is it okay to do that? o-o I've usually kept new strings in my case, and only used them when my old ones started to wear off or break. The Dominants I'm using aren't exactly "new", but they still work fine. I'm a very chronological person, so I don't like the old-new-old pattern. o-o

@awesomeness365I think it would be fine, just make sure you have enough time to get used to the strings, and as always, new strings are going to be hard to keep in tune at the beginning, so it really depends...but do you switch strings back and forth? :0

@ice2505 Hah, I usually don't switch them back and forth, but I've been experimenting with different strings, especially with my E string. o3o I usually don't change my strings that often, since Dominants are pretty stable on my violin. But I really want to try out the Corelli Alliances. @-@

@awesomeness365 Holy cow those are EXPENSIVe. xD but I think it would be really cool to change them...but like I said, just make sure you are comfortable. I made a mistake of changing strings right before a concert, and they kept slipping a little out of tune, I could hear it when I was playing. xD

@awesomeness365 Ooh, Dominants. They're some of my favorites, and I really like the sound they make. ;u;It would be fine to switch them all, but your violin might be harder to tune for the next few days. My private teacher told me to switch them slowly, like..put in an A string one day, get used to it, put in the d string, etc..😋

@ice2505 xD Yeah, they can be. o3o I did that too once for my A string right before my recital, since it broke, and then the string had a really metallic, tinny sound. But then again, Dominants take a long time to finally settle in. 😸@periwinkle 8D Yeah, they work pretty well. I don't really like the E string, though so I changed it to a Jargar. xD Oh, that might be a good idea. I've only had individual strings changed, so yeah. O3O I don't know how long the Alliances take to settle in, but I think it'll take less time than Dominants.

@awesomeness365 Haha, Jargars are pretty nice too. *w*I'm using Vision strings right now cause I found out the E strings sounded really good.My old dominants took a week to settle in. >< Never changed them all at the same time again lol. Wishing you luck with changing your strings. 😋

I wouldn't. I prefer Dominants because they resonate well, and have an excellent tone quality. But, whatever floats your boat.
