Hi! I have a ear infection (first time) and was wondering if anyone had some advice?

@blueskytoday Oh man. Take care of that fast. Those are very painful. You don't know how painful until you have one. Definitely make an appointment asap. I had one recently, and had to use antibiotics to get rid of it, as well as some heavy pain killers. I don't know how bad yours is, but my ear closed and it was just... gross. Ice packs! If there's lots of pain, I used an ice pack. If you don't have those gel/squishy ones, I suggest using the hard ones but wrapping it in a towel or something so it's not so hard on your head. If you have no ice packs, a bag of frozen food should suffice. I hate ear infections. Oh mant hey hurt. And they can go down into your jaw and throat too (the pain I mean) and just. Just. No thanks.

@blueskytoday I had one a while ago, and whenever I swallowed, it made my ear ring. I checked it out with my doctor and she said I have an ear infection. It really depends how long you've gone without treating it, but if you've just got it and check it immediately, it will feel painless, pretty much.Just check the doctor as soon as possible. I didn't take any meds, but I guess I didn't have a bad ear infection.

@blueskytodayOoh, take care of that ASAP! Get an appointment with the doctor as soon as you can. I had a really bad ear infection not too long ago, and I waited so long to treat it that it ended up scalding/burning my ear drum, and that can cause some hearing loss. D: I was lucky and didn't lose any of my hearing, but I learned my lesson.

@blueskytodayOk so like every body's saying TAKE CARE OF THAT!But more importantly DON"T and I mean DON"T get water in your ear. That only makes it worse by like a million times. So even though it is summer. (Depending on where you live.) Try to avoid water for a couple days after that as well to avoid any more burning or ear aches. I know because I had one. So did my friend and my friends sister.

@blueskytodayI have had ear infections since I was... born 😋Ice pack is likely the worst thing to do for one, but hot pack will help. When using your hot pack, laying on it so the extra waxy build up can come to the outer ear.I get ear infections about every 5 months now, each time I just put a hot pack on and wait, but you should get to the doctor for antibiotics. They will likely give you Amoxicillin, or an off shoot of it.
