Chinchilla HELP

I want a Chinchilla badly. I talked to my dad about getting one and he said he'll think about it. I need some tips. First are Chinchillas good pets? Second are they low maintence? I am an only child and I have a dog but he is used to smaller animals(actualy he is terrified of 'em he ran away from my friend's bunny).

I know nothing about Chinchillas, but I suggest you google "Chinchilla pet" and find out everything you can, and bookmark helpful websites. 😊 Some good stuff to start with is:

Habitat
~Cage/Cage Size
~Climate (if it doesn't like cold and you live in a cold area, or vice versa)
~How frequent to clean it
~What to put in it (wood chips, wheel?, etc. Stuff like that)
~Water source

Food
~What type/how much
~Water/what source (bowl,dripper,etc.)
~Vitamin and mineral source (might not be relevant)

Common Sicknessesand and their Causes (so you know what to look for/prevent)

Chinchillas are evil and they bite. And they are no fun. Just cute. Get a gerbil. Much nicer

"Aggggghhh! He's biting me! Get a blowtorch! GET THE BLOWTORCH!"

"I think he wants to go to sleep." xD

NOTE: I don't think the chinchilla'll do that...but research will help you find out! 😃
