I live in the state of PA, and I would like to own a hedgehog. One problem...hedgehogs are illegal in seven states including PA! I heard it was b/c If they escaped into the wild, they could thrive, and endanger native wildlife. For those of you who don't know, temps. in PA can drop to 30 degrees F, dooming any wild hedgehogs. I am writing to the senator to help change the law, using house bill 575. Just wondering if anyone else has similar issues, and what your opinions are on it. 😊
If you also live in a state which bans hedgehogs, let me know!

That's cool that you are taking such action! I hope you succeed!

I don't know if my state bans hedgehogs... However I do understand why they ban hedgehogs...

There is a website called Hedgehog central. You can check there.

PA also allows primates, wolves, bears, wolves, and lions to have as pets, with a permit. That would also be changed.
Thanks! I hope it does too...will let you know!

What?! Hedgehogs aren't banned around here,(there was a cage for them in a pet shop!)but considering how small and harmless they are, that's a really weird law. It kinda does need to be changed.

@rachel215

They aren't illegal in my state, but you need a license to breed them, which is very hard to get, so there is only one breeder. And there is a law against transporting exotic animals into, through, or out of my state, so if I ever do get a hedgehog (which I will eventually) there will only be one breeder I can go to.
