Is there anyone else 'round here who enjoys taxidermy? I want to share about my critters, so I'm curious! 😸

This can be a place to discuss the art of taxidermy. And of course, share pictures of your mounts/pelts/bones/etc (if you have any)~!

NOTE: Always remember to keep your conversation civil and be respectful of others who may not share your views! 😊

I find taxidermy quite fascinating. It's actually something that quite frequently inspires my writing, usually subconsciously. It's weird, because I don't know much about it, really. It just fascinates me, the whole concept!

@pipkitten

Yours are lovely, by the way.😊

I think taxidermy is neat ^^ I wouldn't do it myself, but I think it's cool sometimes and other times is creeps me out 😋 I could look at a picture of taxidermy one day and think 'oh, that's so awesome' and then the next day I might think 'that's kind of creepy' X3 but I like that the animals' bodies are still being useful even after they die 😊

@pipkitten
I find taxidermy fascinating as well. I think it's a great hobby only if the animal was not killed just for the purpose of being used for taxidermy. If it was killed by a neighborhood cat or hit by a car then that's great. You are making an unfortunate death into a beautiful piece of art. I don't do taxidermy but I think it's wonderfully weird hobby. 😉

@metaphor
Taxidermy has always fascinated me as well. Which is why I felt inspired to try my hand at it this summer! 😊 I'm still learning, and I've discovered it's a very interesting and complicated art. I'm addicted!

And thank you~ 😊 I'm happy you like my little collection of misfits! I just added a new member to the fluffy family today~

@univea
It creeps me out sometimes as well, and I'm the person working on mounts, haha! It grosses me out from time to time too. I'm not working with fresh raw things yet, but salted air-dried pelts are kinda gross. 😋 And I agree; it's nice that the animals are still being useful after they die. Gives them a second life where they'll be respected and loved. 😊

@leafpoolz
While I would definitely love to have at least one ranched fox in my possession someday, all of my current animals were most likely taken for population control rather than just their fur. (Even though their pelts are all absolutely gorgeous) 😊 And I'm glad you see taxidermy as art. I've run into many close-minded people in other places that do not have that belief.
