Jade growled and swung her arm out protectively in front of Miko as a girl suddenly appeared in front of her on the merry-go-round. "It is my own business whom I watch, not yours." She suddenly stood on top of the metal horse and plucked Miko up and swung her up onto her back.

Miko stared wide eyed at the girl and gripped Jades shoulders tightly out of fear, she could sense that she had something in common with the girl but at the moment she looked like a very intimidating human. She ducked down in an attempt to hide behind Jade's narrow back and shut her eyes.

Jade glanced backwards at Miko and shot a distrustful look back at the human, "If you'll excuse us." She said with a growling undertone as she leapt off the ride and melted into the growing crowd.

Jade looked back and saw Miko with her eyes tightly shut. Jades facial features softened with concern as she said, "Come, we will buy some ice cream."
Miko only nodded and looked back at the human that had questioned Jade before and saw her eyes glint with purple in the strange lighting. She cocked her head to the side to get a better look, but it was gone and the humans eyes looked a normal black again. "That's weird." Miko mumbled into Jade's shoulder.

Kaira thought for a moment and then ran towards the girl. "Wait!" The alien stopped but didn't turn around. "Do I know you from somewhere?"

Jade let out a puff of air before answering the persistent human, "The only humans I know have been dead for a very long time, I highly doubt that we have met previously."
Miko pulled at Jades shoulder and whispered into her ear, "I don't think she's human, Jade. Her eyes turn funny colors."

Jade slowly turned her head backwards and narrowed her eyes, there was a slight glint of purple in the girls eyes. She let herself relax a little, "You are only half human?" She asked taken aback.

Nixi soars above the fair, and perches atop the ferries wheel. It was a sunny, but not sweltering hot. She was content, but not overjoyed.

As Kaira waited for the alien to respond she saw the sun rise. Like mist, her wings disappeared. Okay, now I look completely human, she thought.

As Jade turned to answer the halfer's question the sun peaked over the horizon. She glanced nervously at the sun as her head began to smoke and quickly slid the wide brimmed hat off of Miko's head and onto her own.
"That was close." Miko murmured into her ear before sliding off of Jades back.
"Your eyes, they have a hint of purple in them," Jade responded ignoring Miko's movement in order to study the halfer in front of her, "No human I have ever known has had such a thing." She pulled her long, baggy sleeves down over her hands and adjusted her hat to cover her muzzle once more. "Perhaps we could find a place to talk out of the sun? It has never been kind to my skin, to my great misfortune."

Miko ran up to the halfer in front of Jade and smiled, "You're just like me! I told Jade about your eyes! They're really pretty!"

Kaira smiled at the halfer and alien. "I also have wings," she whispered. "They only come at night but I try to make everyone think I'm human." Kaira studied them. They seemed trustworthy. Suddenly, something clicked in her mind. "I met you when I was Ira the alien." The alien looked at her strangely. "Let me show you. " Kaina imagined herself changing into a girl merged with a artic fox. "Do you remember me?"

"My Mommy was human! You don't look anything like her though, her hair was yellow and her eyes were only one color." Miko said circling around the older halfer to examine the spot where her wings were supposed to be. "I don't see any wings." She complained.
"Miko stop, that is rude." Jade corrected "I am afraid that when you live as long as I have, your memory begins to fade." She admitted with only the slightest hint of an apology. "Perhaps we did meet at one point but I do not recall your face even as it is now." She continued, cocking her head slightly to take in more of the image the halfers illusions created.
The truth was, the face really did look familiar but it was impossible for this girl to be the same person Jade thought of. Perhaps she was the daughter of... no, impossible.

Jade took a step back and beckoned to Miko and the young Halfer, "Come, if you don't mind I would like to take refuge from the rising sun in the shaded eating area near the Ferris Wheel." She turned her head to look straight at the halfer, "Will you join us?"

Kaira looked into the eyes of the alien. She seemed like she knew who Kaira was...... "Sure," Kaira replied. Kaira concentrated on making herself look like.... herself. The disguise melted off her like ice in the sun. "What are your names anyway? Wait..... Your name is," Kaira pointed vaguely at the alien, "Jade, isn't it?"

Jade nodded slowly, "Yes, that is my name. This little one is Miko, my niece." She said as she strode over to a shaded bench. She sat down and pulled off the wide brimmed hat with a sigh. "Where do you suspect you know me from? And what would your name be?" She glanced over at Miko who had started climbing up the pole supporting the sheet metal roof. "Stay close." She warned.

"I will!" Miko called from the top. She settled herself down on the top of the roof and spread the skin flaps over her ears wide open. "It's so warm." She sighed.

"My name is Kaira but as my alien disguise I am Ira. I... I was as Ira when I met you. We were at..... at a great meeting of aliens and halfers. My father, Nkyx, a halfer, was one of the most important officials there. He didn't know I was there. My mother told me to spy on them because she knew something was strange about this meeting. I met you there." Kaira's eyes glinted with a deep violet as she continued. "We talked lightly, withholding most of our thoughts." Kaira looked into Jade's eyes. "do you remember?"

Jade narrowed her eyes, "You were present at that meeting? I seem to recall an Ira, yes. Perhaps I met your mother as well, you seem to resemble her quite a bit." She leaned forward to rest her elbows on her thighs and let her gaze relax as she recalled the night of the meeting. "Yes, a great many Aliens and Halfers were there, but there were Humans as well. I was an entourage to those Humans who wished to have our aid, they wanted equal rights among the races." She shifted her gaze upward to catch the Halfers reaction, "I supported them, against the wishes of many of the royal blood line. It is because of that that I prefer to stay hidden, I have enemies in very high places." She let her voice drift off and waited for Kaira's response before going further.

"Yes, my mother tried her hardest when she was alive to get equal rights to humans. My father left her for that," Kaira said bitterly. "My mother had a way with words even though she was pure human. Everyone who heard her couldnt help but listen. Do you remember the law on allowing humans to work with alens together? My mother pressed them to do it." Jade nodded carefully.

"And with good reason, humans are becoming all the more isolated and rare to find these days, it would be sad to see them disappear because of carelessness on our parts." Jade rapped her claws on the table behind her and smiled, "It is also sad that Halfers are sometimes looked down upon as well, so sad for the children." She looks up at Miko sunning herself for a brief moment then looks back to Kaira. "So, why was it so important to you that I remember your image from then... Is there something you need?" Jade folded her hands and placed them under her chin in a resting position.
