Locking dead older (like 3 year old ones) automatically

I've noticed that sometimes users bump a dead topic from the last page of the board, which is annoying. I suggest that we automatically lock dead older topics, which have'nt been posted on for a couple years. The OP of the topic, is however, able to request their topic to be unlocked.

Any other ideas or comments?

@lucid
I think that we should be able to lock our own topics when we're done with them. I totally support this idea.

I agree with @bookw0rm, getting to lock your own topics would be great.....

I agree. Locking topics after a long period of time will help keep the forums organized in the future, I've seen it happen in other communities.

I don't think we should have the ability to lock our own topics, for a lot of reasons. I would recommended leaving that to the site staff, as it's apart of their job. 😊

@fakeworld Well that's true... What happens if you have a, say, seasonal creature suggestion, and you want to bring it back each year?

@spiritkoi
That's one of the things I wouldn't want locked, creature suggestions. The forums can live without the locking, we don't have a very, very large number of daily posters.

@lucid @bookw0rm

I like both your suggestions; I hope EggCave implements it!
