Do you agree?

Hey there!

I wish there was a feature where you yourself could place the star on the creature, instead of having it be in the corner.

For example, I was seeing how a star would look with one of my creatures, and it covered up an area of the creature I didn't want covered up.

(sorry if this has already been suggested)

@circus
Like, be able to move the star around? If so, I like it, but it might make star creatures a bit.. disorganized? Like, they don't all appear in the uniform location.

@circus I agree that the stars sometimes cover up parts of the creature that would be better if you could see them. But I can also see what @lemonade is saying about the star creatures looking disorganized, and being more difficult to easily identify.

Maybe as a middle ground, you could choose which corner you'd like the star in. That was it would always be in a corner and easily identifiable, but there would be a bit more room for personalization, and it would fix the issue with stars covering things up.

I still think that you should be able to place the star wherever the user wants.

I agree with the idea of the four corners. Giving an idea of personal customization without making things too cluttered and disorganized.

@circus

I was going to suggest the corner thing, but @musicgurl333 beat me to it.

As for the customization of star locations, @lemonade and @despair are right. From a computer science prospective, it would be a nightmare.

If starred creatures were allowed custom star location, it would require saving the coordinates of where the star is on the picture. It would also require writing a program that allows users to drag the star around to position it. While it wouldn't be much work to up-keep the code after the initial programming, it would still require EC staff to save many unique pictures of the creatures with stars in all possible locations on the image. Since creature pictures are 90x105 pixels, this means 90*105, or 9450 new images they have to save for EACH creature stage rather than two versions for each stage -- the starred and non-starred.

Also, please think about how much server space this site requires and how much that would cost. It has to process loading creature pictures and the traffic on the site. Not only that, but it requires a database saving creature names, species, stage level, and, of course, if it's starred. With the customizable star location, the number of unique images they need to store increases exponentially.

Therefore, being able to choose the location of the star in either of the four corners would result in fewer unique creature images per stage (five) than a customizable star location. It would solve the problem of things getting covered up while still being reasonable in terms of behind-the-scenes site management

No, that is no good. That will affect the rarity of all those Yeeps with their stars in the corner. Have a heart, man.

Satire, guys.

I support this.😋

@wolphire

*brain implode* Too smart for me! 😋

But I agree with that, too!

@circus @wolphire How about being able to choose which corner (top left, top right, bottom left, bottom right, maybe even center?) instead of /literally/ anywhere? c:

@karamel
Maybe just having it in either the top left and right or bottom right and top right to keep it a bit more organised and less hassle with coding

I agree as well on the ability to move the star but only on the corners, so the esthetical of the creature isn't ruined but there's still an order... Hope this is possibile to be realized!

@wolphire
and @everybodyelse,

Wolphire has made me understand. I couldn't see it from the programmers perspective.

So yeah, stars on the four corners 😊
