Artist Seeking Advice

Hello! I'm Cedarcliffe -- I am completely new to EggCave, but I've enjoyed cultivating little legions of virtual pets on various servers for a while. I've generally found my place in these communities through my ability as an artist, so naturally that's the area I'm hoping to bust into here! I have some questions about it though, and I'm hoping someone here can inform me...


- Is there a 'market' for artists here? (ie, EC for custom illustrations of creatures, EC for Creature Suggestion concept art, etc)

- If there is, what is the going rate on such things?

- Which forum division would advertisement of these services belong in?


If anyone has any suggestions or information that would be helpful, even (maybe especially!) outside of the realm of these questions, I'd love to hear it.

@cedarcliffe Here are the answers for your questions

Question 1 : No, they don't have a Market for drawings but there is the Travel Agency 😸

Question 2 : I'm not pretty sure 'bout this one XP

Question 3 : You couldn't advertise in the forums. This is considered Spamming. I suggest you make a creature suggestion or travel suggestion like this one , Here . Other people can post on your suggestion and see what they think 😸.

@cougar I think I may have been misunderstood--

I didn't mean an official, site-integrated market -- I mean a user market. For example, someone gets in touch with me about creating a custom image of their favorite pet for x payment (CE, travels, whatever), I do so, upload the personalized art to an image hosting website which does not violate the EggCave TOS (like deviantart or imgur), and they send me the agreed upon payment in exchange.

I'm confused as to why you're saying that advertising artistic services that are relevant to EggCave would be considered 'spamming' -- I'm reading over the forum rules for the third time now, and the site rules for the second, and nothing I can find says anything like that at all. If you can point the location of this rule out to me, please do.

@cedarcliffe As far as I've seen here, people do 'sell' their artwork for egg coin commissions. But, it's not secure, and trades are based off an honor code, so payment is not guaranteed to the artist.

EDIT:

Also, it would probably belong under the entertainment forum. Or the general forum. Advertise as an art shop.

As for the going rate, it depends on the artist/buyer and the quality of the work.

@darthvader Thanks for the heads up, that is very good to know. Given that information, I'll be sure to either get payments either ahead of time or on a "50% now, 50% after completion" basis.

@cedarcliffe Good idea. You might be surprised at the generosity of eggcavers though. Very few scams of this nature happen, mainly because people who would try to scam, would not want to scam art. They would probably try to scam creatures or more EC. Just sayin 😊 But, scamming rarely happens here.
