Is this a good idea?

I've seen a liking system for forum posts on other websites, so I thought it be a good idea to put it on Egg Cave
I also think it would be cool if we earned a small amount of EC (like 25) for each like, but side accounts wouldn't be able to like things then and you can't like your own posts though.

@lucid
Wouldn't that be adding an extra stat?

@windchill
What's wrong with that?

@9kiwi9
Not sounding rude but if they make a extra stat, the system would be sightly more complex.

Noting Windchill's concern: If "likes" were a extra stat, ALL creature levels will instantly drop, and harshly, due to the fact that a creatures level is the average of it's stats((feed+click+view)/3). Most creatures that would otherwise be safe and immortal in somebody's side account somewhere will now be able to die unless re-leveled more(people will often create side accounts to store their immortal creatures, where they are left unfed and unattended). It will also make immortalizing much harder, since using views will only pull up 25% of your creature's level, as opposed to the 33.3333% that come from every stat now. While nothing too bad or game-wrecking, likes added as a stat will certainly cause a lot of commotion, and valuable creatures unintentionally be left dead.

But even as a stat or not, I feel as if likes aren't necessary, and I don't see how they could be. In the case that they add EC, even a small amount like 25, they will only serve as a purpose for one to adopt more creatures than they can probably handle to just maybe earn a little more EC. And that's not good, especially considering increase in cove capacity may be added soon. And they won't make a good evolutionary stat either, because I don't see how it will make scene if a creature grew from getting "likes". If a creature is to grow from getting attention, well, we already have views in place, and if you want them to grow from people coming and visiting them, we already have clicks and feeds.

So no thanks, it just seems so unnecessary to me, to have these "likes".

EDIT: Oh whoops, I thought you meant liking CREATURES. 😋 Well, still seems pretty unnecessary to me. Disregard all that's above.

@lucid I would like the option of liking posts on the blog at least. Witty posts need to be rewarded with a like.

@windchill The system will always get more complex as there are more new changes, wouldn't it? 😊

Not saying that this is a bad idea at all, but to me personally, I would just see it as a minor little thing to add. Neither really useful or not useful.

As long as the likes didn't effect the creatures original three stats that make up its current level, and as long as they didn't give out EC for likes, its more like...well, okay. Wouldn't really bother me. But at the same time I think there are far better things the site could do with its time than implementing something that would be seen as a minor thing.

So, not completely against the idea...but I would much rather see the site fix things which -are- a problem for some users. =P
