Please help spread the word about the Day of Silence 2014!Information from the website, because I'm not very eloquent:http://www.dayofsilence.org/index.html"The National Day of Silence is a day of action in which students across the country vow to take a form of silence to call attention to the silencing effect of anti-LGBT bullying and harassment in schools."Show your support for the LGBT community and the fight against bullying by joining the Day of Silence this Friday, April 11th. However, unfortunately, constitutionally, "...you may NOT have the right to stay silent during instructional time if a teacher requests for you to speak."Spread the love and join the day of silence.

@pegasasu So it's like helping someone who is being bullied and/or stop the bullying from happening in the first place?
pegasasu • 8 April 2014 at 6:33 PM
@amelialightwingKind of! ^^; It's a form of symbolic speech (well, actually, you're NOT speaking) to show your support for the silence forced on the LGBT community through bullying of these groups, put simply.

@pegasasu so we're not supporting LGBT? Or are we supporting the LGBT?
awkolicious • 8 April 2014 at 6:47 PM
I will vow to be silent.

@pegasasuAt my high school, I remember that people were able to talk to teachers about the day of silence to be exempt from speaking that day in class. It was pretty cool. We tried hard to have an active LGBTQ (however many letters people are adding nowadays)-straight alliance. It was a great time. 😊 Just thought I'd share that story in light of this board.
