We live in a foest that was burnt black by a forest fire. Because their is so little prey most Smokeclan cats a skinny and if your not you will be accused of taking kitty-pet food from two-legs. Camp is a huge clearing with an huge brunt tree in the middle, it is hollow so it is the leader's den. There is one clearing in the forest very small that was not burnt, this is where leader's go to get nine live's from starclan. The only source of water is a small stream.{Ashstar}"Goodbye, old friend." I meowed as I watched the apprentice's take our dead deputy's body to be buried. /Who should be new deputy now?/ I thought. I swept my gaze around camp, it setteled on Willowfrost. He was a worthy warrior, he could make a strong deputy. I padded up beside burnt tree and sat at the oaks huge roots, "Let all cat's gather to hear my words.!" I yowled as I saw Heatherpaw and Ravenpaw return.{Heatherpaw}I let out a disgusted snort as I let the scruff off Swanfur leave my mouth. This was the first dead cat me and Ravenpaw have had to take care of after our last elder Goattooth, died. /Gross/ I thought as I dug into the burnt ground.{Ravenpaw}"Ok," I heard Heatherpaw meow. "The holes plenty deep, lets put her in." I grabed our old deputy Swanfur by the scruff and helped my sister pull her into the hole. "Yuck," I growled around a mouthful of fur. Ashstar had found Swanfur tree days after she died, so she smelled like rotting crow-food. She was deep in the woods, adder had bit her. Me and Heatherpaw droped her off into the ground and happily coverd her and her stink up. "Ok, lets get back to camp." I meowed. Once we got in camp, I heard Ashstar call a meeting. /Must be for the new deputy./ I thought.

{Moonmist}I was worried for two reasons. One, it was most likely that Swanfur had died because of me. Two, I was worried who the next deputy would be. I was always worried about not saving cats, worried that Ashstar would... give up on me. He's such a great leader, why would he want a Medicine Cat as awful as I am? He's never gave up on me, though. Swanfur was an amazing deputy, too. I'm glad she'll go to Starclan. Maybe.. I'll see her again in my dreams. Then an idea struck me. -What if my brother is picked as the new deputy?-{Pineglow}I knew that something was amiss two days ago. It was obvious that the Deputy had disappeared, but I wasn't trying to worry or anything.. I should have told Ashstar or Moonmist. I heard Ashstar's paws hit the rock with a thud. He looked around at his clan. "Who do you think he's going to pick?," murmured Shadestalker beside me. "I don't know." I replied in as low a voice I could manage. "But maybe I could guess."{Lynxfur}I was about to burst with excitement. I mean, me, the gruffest warrior in Smokeclan, about to explode. I wasn't sure why. Maybe it was the thought of who would be able to take the place of Swanfur.. I'm not sure, exactly. Squirrelfoot walked up behind me. I thought about saying something to her, but Ashfur started the meeting before I could. -Shall we get this meeting started?- I thought to myself. Then all of the happiness drained out of me. I realized, for the first time in three whole days, Swanfur was dead. -Stupid, stupid, you.- How could I not have realized Swanfur was gone?{Shadestalker}I thought about making a grand entrance, but decided it would be best not to. I would get in trouble. So I walked over to Pineglow, stared at her paw for a second, then asked her who she thought Ashstar would pick for the next deputy."I don't know." Pineglow replied in a low voice. "But maybe I could guess." I started to ask her what she meant, but Ashfur started the meeting. -I'm ready.- I thought. -I'm very ready.- But the truth is, I wasn't.{Willowfrost}I started to walk down the path to the rock, because I had just gotten off of patrol. I guess I was just in time. "What's going on?" I asked myself. Then it dawned on me. New Deputy! -I don't care who gets it as long as they care about their clan.- I told myself. And it was true. Swanfur had cared about her clan enough to fight an adder on Hunting Patrol. -I would do that for Smokeclan! I would do anything for them!-

{Ashstar}Once all the cat's of the clan where there, I started the meeting. "As you all know, we found Swanfur half-dead three days ago deep in the forest, bitten by an adder, and by the time we got her to Moonmist, it was to late. I would like to thank Moonmist for trying her best to save my adopted sister. Last night we mourned the death of Swanfur, but now a new deputy must be chosen. Willowfrost." I meowed, flicking my tail, "Please step foward."

{Moonmist}He thanked me. That's a good sign. But my brother... He should be able to handle it. I hope he can.. At least Ashfur has most of his lives left. I mean, I don't know if... What am I going at, exactly? I'm not sure. I guess cats just worry about their family. But why would I worry about Willowfrost? He could no doubt defend himself 20 times better than I could defend myself. So all I said was, "Go, Willowfrost!" Along with the other Clan members.{Willowfrost}"M-me?" I stammered as I walked up there. "Why me??" It made no sense! I was just getting off patrol, Ashstar called a meeting for the new deputy, and... He called me. I never expected that. And the most amazing part about this, I had never even considered me to be available to be Deputy. "I-I..." I had to gather my wits, I shook so hard from excitement. "I would be honored, Ashstar."

And make sure i'm on one of the patrols, I want to get out of camp." I added.{Ravenpaw}I puffed out my chest proudly. "My mentor is deputy!" I meowed to my sister, Heatherpaw. Heatherpaw snickered. "Every cat knows Lynxfur should have been made deputy!" I rolled my eyes, "Someone jealous?"I sneered. "I am NOT!" snapped Heatherpaw.

@emilianagerson @izzy0224(I'm going to make up some names for the patrols that can be background characters.){Willowfrost}"Okay then!" I mewed. I thought for a second. "For a food patrol, why doesn't Lynxfur take Heatherpaw and go hunt by the stream? And Hawkember can go with them." I hoped that was an okay post. "And for a border patrol, because I've heard that there we're some strange cats over that way, Ashstar can lead Duskrise and Kestrelstrike over to the ravine. Ravenpaw, you come with me. We'll go do a little battle training."{Lynxfur}It felt nice to go out with my apprentice. I was glad I had finally been chosen for a patrol. I liked the camp, but the... "Fresh-ish air"" always made me feel better. I saw a small lizard and told Heatherpaw, who raced off to get it. "Remember, it goes to the clan!" I called after her. "Don't eat it!" She'd eaten it last time. Big surprise if she'd eaten another.

I sneered, padded in to the burnt black tree's.

@emilianagerson @izzy0224 Okay, I'll use them. I've got so much free time on my hands, I could make a thousand. Filled out forms!(Willowfrost)"Great going Ravenpaw!" I mewed as she rolled over toward me. "If you go that way, you'll run into a tree, though!" I chucked at her. While I was giggling, she mush have been sneaking up on me, because she was suddenly on my back. -Really, Willowfrost?- I thought to myself. -Did you just let him attack you off guard?-(Pineglow)It wasn't lonely, being in the nursery all the time. Squirrelfoot was there to keep me company. By what Moonmist had said earlier, I was expecting to have two kits. My first batch, in fact. I felt lucky to be a Queen. Some cats don't ever have the chance.(Duskrise)I couldn't figure it out. One moment I smelled a cat nearby and the next as far off as the town. It made no sense. Either this cat was super speedy, there were three cats that have the exact same smell, or I've just plain old gone mad. When we set out, I sure was hoping it would be a lost kitty-pet that Ashstar thought it might be. Sadly, things don't always turn out to be what you want. I'm still hoping it's just a kitty-pet, though.(Shadestalker)I had no assignments to do. I am rather glad, too. My vision has been failing me, and I'm not quite ready to go to the elder's den. I guess.. I'll have to soon; Ashstar will find out soon. I don't know what to do about it. I have loved being a warrior, but how can I do.. Anything if I can no longer see three steps in front of me? -It's not over yet,- I thought. -Make the best of the last days.-

@kreptacat Ravenpaw is a girl@izzy0224{Ashstar}I padded with Duskrise and Hawkember following the strange cat's scent.We were getting closer and closer, then I heard the cat meow behind a log. "Go see what this cat wants." I flicked my tail to Hawkember.

@emilianagerson @izzy0224(Hawkember)I quietly walked closer and closer to the log. I looked behind me, and all was quiet. The cat meowed again and what I saw scared me half to death. It was a kittypet. A kittypet hurt. One eye was badly bruised, and it's leg looked swollen, too. It quietly hissed at me. "Ashstar, Duskrise," I gasped, "Come here!"

@emilianagerson@izzy0224 (Duskrise)The kittypet looked startled by how nice Ashstar had been. It hissed though, and I actually kind of pitied it. It was defenseless toward us, and if we decided to harm it, it would most surely be vulnerable to whatever we did. It still didn't seem to want to talk, though. "Hisss.... Hisss.... Don't come closer.." Was all it said to us. I shook my head. "It's not gonna talk." Then it hissed again. "I'm a tom, idiot." And he hissed once more. "I don't need help from the Clan cats. I'm fine all by myself." But he sure didn't look fine.

@Kreptacat@izzy0224{Ashstar}I rolled my eyes "You DO need help, weather you like it or not. Let us help you, we can talk you to our medicine cat, Moonmist. And you can tell us what happened." If this cat got hurt on my land I want to know why, is there a fox on my land? Bager? Dogs? I suddered at all the things it could have been.

@emilianagerson@izzy0224 {Hawkember}I stood behind Ashstar and Duskrise on the way back. If anyone could get this kittypet to tell what happened, it was Moonmist. He wouldn't even tell me his name. If he had one. Do kittypets have names? "I'm Hawkember," I said politly to him. "What's your name?" "None of your business." He muttered indignantly.

@izzy0224@emilianagerson {Moonmist}"Dogs?" I whimpered as I took my seat. I looked at the clan. If we went to war against dogs, so many would be injured, or maybe even killed. "We can't fight dogs," I whispered. "We'll never survive.. How many dogs were there, Ink?" "About six." He said flicking his tail. "SIX?!" I asked, completely thinking we were doomed. Willowfrost walked over to us. "What's the matter?" He asked. "Dogs!" I replied.{Lynxfur}"What's this about?" I wondered as I walked over to the tree. Me, Heatherpaw, and Hawkember had just got back.{Shadestalker}I jumped down to the ground. I heard Ashstar call a clan meeting. Pineglow was heading that way from the nursery, so I followed her.{Willowfrost}I walked over and sat down by Ashstar. "What's happened?" I asked. "Dogs!" I heard Moonmist say. "Oh no, surely not!" I exclaimed. "Not on our territory, right?"{Pineglow}As Ashstar called the clan meeting, I silently walked toward the Tree where the other clan members were gathering. Shadestalker followed me.{Hawkember}Our leader called a clan meeting. I could see why. Dogs were an important matter, especially when there was more than one. But six dogs? "Oh no..." I murmured.{Kestrelstrike}Just before the clan meeting, I was going to check on our kittypet patient. He seemed to be doing fine, so I just walked a few paces over to the outskirts of the clan meeting. "What's happening?" I asked Duskrise beside me.{Duskrise}I heard Ashstar call the clan. As I sat down, I noticed the kittypet was over there, too. Kestrelstrike padded over to me. "What's happening?" She asked. "I'm not sure.." I replied uncertainly.

We have brought him back to camp to be seen by Moonmist, his name is Ink. He says he was attacked by dogs, at least six." I waited for the clans yowls to die down, then I meowed again. "Heatherpaw has told me Ink wishes to join the clan. At this time, I'll give Ink his apprenitce name and mentor, Ink, step foward."

Another life that will most likely get taken by dogs./ I shook my head. /Get a grip on yourself, Moonmist!/ I was scared to death about this. Ink was now looking rather embarrassed. I nudged him forward. "Go on Ink."{Ink}When I had said I wanted to join the clan, I hadn't meant like this. Oh well. I stepped forward. I had to admit, these cats seemed nice.. Yes, I had a new life.{Willowfrost}"SIX dogs?!" I asked uncertainly. /I'm deputy./ I thought to myself. /I'll be the one to fight./ I was confident we could do it, though. I'd cheer Smokeclan on, no matter what; If their deputy was afraid, they would all panic, right?
