[So eggcave is a fun little clicking site. I shouldn't be looking too much into it.

But I did and do so let's get started.

We know eggcave takes place on Ark, an island with creatures and jungles. But Ark is really weird up if you think about it.
Just some observations that lead to some some fun conclusions.

Biggest one is the whole Humans own creatures and can kill them through negligence. At least some species of creatures are definitely sentient and sapient. They can own shops and speak English and are also essentially property. I guess the ones with jobs or criminal enterprises don't have owners so they're free.

But in our defense they leave their eggs to be stolen in a cave with no protection.

Maybe the creatures are all r-strategists (lots of babies low survival rate) and don't care if we take a couple? If that's true then it's probably better that humans take care of them, might be increasing the egg's survival rate. Also explains the cave and cove limits since that means someone doesn't want people taking a bunch and not being able to care for them.

Makes me feel better if they were likely just going to die anyways.

Or even better maybe it's like a weird foster system where you sponsor an egg and pay for its food or something. That way when you "trade" a creature you're not really trading the actual creature. You're just transferring responsibility/sponsorship.

And you get sent progress pictures of the creature if you send enough of the right support (how an immortal egg is possible. the creature you sponsored just doesn't send an update picture until you meet their donation goal or something.)

There's a site for real animals that raises money for pet food based on clicks to their website so that could be what's happening.

And speaking of immortals, I guess you still get to keep sponsoring a creature even after it doesn't need you anymore.

Would explain how some creatures are supposed to eat each other (grubbug and kinump) but still live in the same cove. They're not actually in your cove, you just support them.

And Travels are giving them a free vacation, books and foods are specifics gifts to send.

I like this better than the slavery route.

But what about extinctions? Maybe these are species that are doing find and don't need sponsorship anymore? Or maybe the increased survival of some species out competed other species and wiped them out due to their advantage? Who knows.

Course even if we think optimistically there's the experimentation of the SAR and the creatures themselves that are a little messed up but hey. At least we aren't stealing babies and starving them to death.

Maybe.]
