- Backstory -
The year is 2020. A strange gas has flooded the earth, killing millions and millions of humans. Thousands fled to pre existing underground networks of homes, businesses, and recreational rooms, to escape the looming threat of the gas. The scientists that managed to escape gather in one specific complex and racked their brains over this conundrum, only to conclude that the only things safe from the gas were animals. After months of planning they began to develop hybrids, half human, half animal in an experiment they codenamed 'Zodiac'.

The year is 2039, the scientist's efforts has lead to twelve boys and girls, of different races, sizes, and ages, each combined with animal gene that corresponds with the zodiac that they were assigned to. This has caused them to develop unique super human abilities and animal like traits. Although, the majority of them are still young, they believe these hybrids are what it takes to save the human race.

Appearance - Nerissa stands at 5'4, she has beautiful light brown skin with darker freckles dotted across the bridge of her nose, shoulders, and hips. She has a moderate frame, not to small or large, with the weight concentrated on her hips and thighs, very flattering. Her hair is a wild and unruly mess of dark brown, it's curly and falls down to her knees. It often times is dripping wet due to her love of swimming. She has large green doe eyes. Behind her large lips are a set of razor sharp shark teeth which she often proudly displays with her patented grin. Iridescent scales grow outwards from her hairline, on her cheeks and forehead. Small patches of the scales grow elsewhere on her body, most notably down her spin, her chest, and the backs of her legs. Nerissa has a tiny fin on her back in the center of her spine scales, it's not fully developed and chances are it never will be. Gills are outlined on her neck, but she's perfectly capable of being above water too. She often times wears flowy shirts, jackets, and dressed, nothing too conforming to her body, all in bright, flashy, colors. She also enjoys adorning herself in jewelry, especially gold.

Personality - Nerissa is cheerful and springy, always having a bounce in her step. She will go out of her way to make sure everyone is enjoying themselves to the fullest. She is a bit of a cry baby and easily gets her feelings hurt but her sadness can change in an instant. Nerissa looks up to Niko like an older brother, and holds him in very high regards despite his grumpiness. She's friends with everyone and loves to make them smile. She's confident and creative and loves painting with watercolor. Her mouth goes a mile a minute but she would never betray a friend by telling a secret. Nerissa loves talking, being with friends, Niko in a brotherly way, and swimming. She hates being yelled at, needles, and losing friends.

Super Human ability - Agility (Flexibility, jumping, and speed.)

Appearance - Niko stands at an impressive 6'4, which doesn't count the spiraling ram horns that adorn the top of his head which adds at least another foot. He has porcelain skin, akin to that of a doll without a blemish in sight, and a lanky figure. His hair is shaggy and jet black, normally falling in his eyes with just a hint of stubble outlining his square jaw that turns into a goatee at his chin. His eyes are a piercing yellow. On the sides of his head are two large, black ram ears which he finds incredibly embarrassing. The tips of his fingers are capped with a hard hoof material, moving down he has a pair of black cloven hooves in place of feet. Niko often wears oversized jackets with holes in the hood to accommodate his horns, metal band tee-shirts, and baggy black pants.

Personality - Niko is standoffish, often not talking unless there is something that needs to be said in his opinion, often times being incredibly rude. Despite this he is a natural leader and will take charge when it suits his needs. His patience level is short and he can snap at the slightest of provocations, huge grump. Even though he has a tough guy attitude he treats Nerissa like a sister, although she's the exact opposite of him. He is extremely protective of her and would do anything to make sure she's safe. Niko loves to sleep, listen to metal, Nerissa in a sisterly way, and to generally stay away from others. He hates when his opinions aren't considered fact, his ram ears, and how big his horns are getting.

Other - Due to being the first hybrid, he's the most unstable out of the bunch, often having to get check ups to continue being in 100% health. His horns will never stop growing, which causes him a bit of discomfort.

@lysertrix So you say the animal must be related, so does that mean say i pick Leo, can I make it a lynx or tiger instead of a lion?

Hybrid animal - See question. I'd prefer it to be a tiger but it can be lion for consistency's sake.
Super Human ability - Strength.
Appearance - Five foot four with short brown hair. He has pale skin and dark green eyes.
He typically wears jeans and plain over sized long sleeved shirts. He has a slim silver chain around his neck.
He has a thick clump of dark ginger fur around his neck almost like a mane, and his eyes have slit pupils like a cat. He has random patches of fur growing on his arms and chest.
Personality - Bubbly and all around friendly. He's kind to almost everyone and is willing to go the great lengths to help someone. He's dead loyal to his friends and often defends them if he's in an argument.

Super Human ability - She has venom filled fangs for incisors.
Appearance - Six foot four Caucasian female with shoulder length dirty blond hair. She has blue-gray eyes that have snake pupils.
On the back of her neck she has thick spiky pink, purple, and orange scales that spread down her back, along her spine. These scales can also be found on her arms, hands and legs.
She typically wears black shirts with any variety of shorts or baggy pants if she get's cold.
Personality - On the outside and to new people she can seem very quiet and not really talkative. This is true but mainly because she has social issues and doesn't really make many friends.
To those she's close to she can be seen talking openly, and is often purely happy with where she is. To her friends she's dead loyal and often loves them to death.

Appearance: Due to being a boreal owl hybrid, she has hair that is an odd colour of white down to herr shoulders and amber eyes. She has freckles across the bridge of her nose and is about 5 feet tall. She has a very muscular and agile build. She ususally wears an aeropostale t-shirt and skinny jeans with a purple hoodie.
Personality: She's very sassy and direct. I would dare say hostile. She doesn't really make friends easily. She loves heights and loves climbing trees. She only trusts a few poeple.

Appearance: His nails have always been kind of claws like due to being part crab. He has black hair swept across one eye and black eyes, like a crab. He is about 5'5. He has a very athletic build. He usually wears a white t-shirt, ripped jeans, and DC's.
Personality: He's very kind and cautious. Once people get past his appearance, he makes friends easily. He loves running and swimming and that's what he spends most of his free time doing.

Personality - intrevert (Someone who loses energy from being around lots of people.) panics a lot, hates new people/places, gets embarrassed a lot, always chewing nails/chewing lips/chewing pens/ knitting hands together, very smart but when panicking gets very confused.
Other - Weirdly likes cats when should be afraid of them.
