Hey, ya'll (: Im new to this site, I just started about 1/2 hour ago and Im liking it thus far.

Looking to make some friends on here and chat.

I also have a few questions about the creatures (pets?)
How can you tell how rare a pet is? The higher their population # the more rare? Or the lower the more rare? Or does their population number mean nothing?

Can you trade them? If so, how do you do that and how do you figure out a fair trade?

Do I need to buy food to feed my pets? I saw there was a food type store and a toy store and such, but I didn't need to buy food the first time I fed my pets

What's the best way to play this game/what do you personally like to do? haha Just trying to figure out what to do and hearing what other people like to do might help!

(This post is longer than I thought it would be! Sorry!!)

After you read all of this info, tell me if there's anything else you need! I'm happy to help!

*UPCOMING GIGANTIC WALL OF TEXT*

2: Creature values and rarities depend (mostly) upon 1 thing: popularity. For instance, if a creature is released in the Cash Shop, and EVERYONE gets one, that creature won't be valuable JUST because you spent $5 on it. Instead, it WON'T be very valuable because it'll be easy to find, probably even after its retired.

But with something like Nyms; now, they're REALLY valuable (worth well over 10kCC). They were REALLY popular, but Egg Cave was just starting out when they were released in 2011, so not a lot of users have them. [That's my assumption because Egg Cave launched in '09; of course, there's every possibility that I'm completely wrong and am not as smart as I thought I was ;u;)

Another thing that depends on value: the creature stage. Creatures are generally worth more if they're younger -- for instance, eggs are worth more than a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd stage creature. And if the egg is frozen? That adds about 200CC to their value.

BUT (there's always a but XD) when a creature first comes out, most users want them to be immortalized (over LV2000 & they won't die EVER). So when a creature FIRST comes out, the older stages are more valuable because not everyone has them.

And because of ^THAT^, the older the species gets, the more valuable eggs become -- because everyone hatches, evolves, & immortalizes their creatures when they first come out.

See? We have a system XD

3: So to answer your questions:
>"How can you tell how rare a pet is?"
Depends on the population, species age, and pet stage.

>"The higher their population # the more rare? Or the lower the more rare?"
The higher their population #, the more rare. [If you notice the creatures that are still in the cave are at the very top, with the lowest population #s. This means that pretty much EVERY user has at least one. Creatures that you can still find in the cave aren't worth much, if anything.]

>"Can you trade them?"
Yes! Would you like to perform a mock trade with me?

4:"How do you do that and how do you figure out a fair trade?"
Again; mock trade! Respond if you'd like to 😊
+Go to the Creature Trade Center in the drop down menu for Shops. Click around on the red menu; that's how I learned my way around. Can't figure it out? Ping me here! (To ping: on my post, click the little bell and respond)

Fair trades; You can complete a fair trade a few ways:
+You both offer creatures of equivalent value
+Offer the amount of CC/EC that the creature is worth (like paying for something)
+Offer a few creatures (usually 2-3) that aren't worth much separate.

[So say you want a creature that's worth 500 CC, but you only have 3 creatures worth any CC: one is worth 350CC, one is worth 100CC, and one is worth 50CC. You could, in theory, trade those for the 500CC creature, if the person you're trading with wants the creatures you're offering. So while you'd be giving up more creatures, the value of the creature you're receiving is technically higher.]

5: "Do I need to buy food to feed my pets? I saw there was a food type store and a toy store and such, but I didn't need to buy food the first time I fed my pets"
>Nope, you don't! Click your creatures, and it'll take you to their profile. There's a feed button there! Feeding them like this will increase their happiness some, but if you buy food items and toys and use those on your creatures, it'll increase their happiness by more! And make sure your creatures are always happy! If their happiness hits zero, they'll die!!! D:

Of course, you can also use Tim's Food Shoppe (also in the Shops drop down menu) Tim will keep your creatures fed as long as you want. It costs EC, though. When you go there, you can choose the creatures you want him to feed and choose the number of days you want them to remain fed, and Tim will give you a price without you having to buy his services beforehand!

I know you've been in the archives, so you've seen how creatures hatch & evolve, right? With Feeds, Clicks, and Views! Well, every time your creature is fed, this give them one Feed. You can either put them in the *Click Exchange* or you can man a **forum post** about it, and people will feed your creature. IMPORTANT: Tim's Food Shoppe DOES NOT give your creatures Feeds! This still has to be done manually. TFS only makes it so that your creature will never die!

Clicks and Views are counted depending on every unique IP address (or something .___.) that clicks or views your creature per day. This means your creature won't get tons of Clicks and Views just because you click on them a bunch. So you can also use the Click Exchange and the forums for this. BUt if I were to click your Crabbert once today, I'd be giving him a View and Click. But if I clicked on him again today, he wouldn't receive anymore Clicks and Views from me until I clicked him tomorrow.

6: "What's the best way to play this game/what do you personally like to do?"
>Hmm....Well:
+For trading: I rarely ever do creature-creature trades. I almost always only trade CC for a creature. Every rare, old LE, or old CC creature I have, I traded CC to attain.
+***Items: I don't do items. But if YOU want to do item collecting: Click on you creature, and it'll take you to their profile. Scroll down a little, and you'll see that creature's item collection. Every time you use an item or travel on them, that item/travel is added to their item collection. Every creature has an item collection.
+***Travels: I like certain travels, but I don't usually trade anything but EC for them.
+Ah . . . what else e__e. I sometimes post in the forums, when I have CC UFT or when I /want/need creatures and am willing to pay EC or CC for them.

*Click Exchange: http://eggcave.com/exchange
+Here, you can register your creature(s) (under "Manage Your Creatures") and receive Clicks, Feeds, and Views to help your creature(s) hatch or evolve, or to help immortalize your creatures. BUT you have to feed, click, and view other users creatures to earn Exchange Credits! If you don't have any, or run out of, Exchange Credits, your creature won't be displayed!

**Posting in the forum
+Make sure you check the rules of each forum and make sure you post in the correct forum~ Anything in the wrong forum will be taken down by the site staff (identifiable by the golden shield next to their usernames)

***Items and travels
+There are items and travels in the Cash Shop (as I'm sure you've seen). You can buy them with Cave Cash. It's important to note that the travels can be stored in your inventory; the ITEMS, however, cannot be stored. All of the items in the Cash Shop MUST be used on a creature at the time of purchase. So, essentially, it's like you're purchasing a service.

[For instance, when you go to get a massage, you can't postpone it and take the massage therapist home with you to be used whenever you're ready. You HAVE to get the massage when you pay for it, right?]

It's the same with Cash Shop items. So if you ever see a user type something about a freeze being used on one of their creatures, they'd actually have to trade their creature to the user who's offering it and trust that that user will spend the 200CC to freeze it and trade their creature back to them.

To me, this is the best part about Egg Cave -- mostly because it proves that people are awesome and trustworthy and won't be childish and steal your creatures.
