Cave Egg glitch?

So I went to the cave. Approached an egg. It got a Pinkunk egg, and chose to leave it. But suddenly, it turned into a Mo egg! o.o Has this happened before?

Yes, it's happened before 😊 Mo eggs are programmed that way and will more often than not appear as another egg before turning into a Mo egg.
