Why do some clicks not count?

I'm a little confused as to why about half of the clicks I should be getting from the exchange are not going through to my pets.
Is there a reason behind this?

Some people will click on your pet, but will close the window almost immediately after opening it, not giving it a chance to actually go view/click your creature.
That's the most likely reason behind that.
