spiritkoi • 5 March 2015 at 11:30 AM
I'll start. And subscribed to the topic so no need to ping me. 😊 @dragonnn @izziebee1017 @cloudpuff @rushingwater Crevasse shivered. It wasn't from the cold though. Already in the small town she was in civilians were rushing through the skies, eager to join the army, eager to help in any way they could. War was upon them. It had been brewing for years, even though some of the phoenixes in the Society were hopeful that it wouldn't come to this. She knew that it had been inevitable. Ever since her father's death in a petty skirmish. Crevasse sighed, a wisp of her breath flew away to join the others, and turned back to one of the secret entrances to one of the many peace movement hideouts. They were scattered around Uldevar, and there was only one hideout where everyone, everyone from all the tribes, could meet, and that was at the border where all the territories met. The one she often went to was known as Hideout #32, comprised of only Ice phoenixes, as no other tribe could survive the cold this deep in their territory."Of where does ice go when it meets flame?"Crevasse thought for a moment on the security question. She sighed once again, this time out of annoyance. "Water is born, which becomes wind as it meets the warmth, to begin the cycle anew."The doorkeeper promptly opened the entrance. All answers had to mention the remaining "elements" and a sort of cycle for it to be correct. She stepped in, nodded curtly at the doorkeeper as she did not know his name. Within the dimly lit room there were 6 other ice phoenixes, but she only knew two by name. She opened her wing a little to acknowledge Skye, and took her perch next to her. Crevasse scanned the other perches, and found FrostStorm near the other side of the room. The meeting began with silence. The air was thick with unspoken words. The war was here. They had to step out of the shadows. It was time for them to move to the inter-tribe hideout and plan accordingly with all the others.

@Dragonnn@SpiritKoi@RushingWater@izziebee1017===============================-meanwhile in the water territory-Brookflight looked at Mistystone fondly. The little bird barely had all her feathers, yet was branching already. Misty (for short) had fledged unusually quickly, even for water Phoenix, which are known for fast fledging. As Brook (for short) watched Misty hop from branch to branch, she looked out across the territory. Her nest was on one of the highest trees in the territory. To the left, a large lake. Their island was slightly too small for an entire ocean, but the lake did just as well, as one could barely see the other side. Straight ahead, there was a clearing dotted with wildflowers. This is where battle training was, and Brook had a clear view of it. To the right, more of the tall scraggly trees with no leaves that most water Phoenixes prefered to build nests in. In the distance, she could see her friend, Wavechill's nest. Behind Brooks tree was a sheer mountain. Somewhere along that wall, hidden by bushes and scrub, there was an entrance to the only water peace movement hideout. Today, an unusually bright day, there would be a meeting. Brook mused about bringing Misty today, but decided she wasn't quite ready. While she pondered this thought, Misty took a flying leap off a fairly high branch. Brook cringed and held her breath. The last time Misty did that, she ended up at the Healer for a few days with a broken talons. Misty was falling, but before she hit the ground, her wings finally got the message and flew out. She grazed the ground with her belly feathers, but tilted up again. She was flying! Finally!"LOOK," Mist cried, "I'M FLYING!"Brook smiled amused. Maybe this was the time to bring Misty after all."Misty," Brook called, "Would you come here for a moment?""Ok," she called back.As she landed, no so gracefully, in her nest, Brook explained that the war had officially started and that she and herself were going to go to a hidden organization to stop it. While Misty sat there processing the information, Brook started to regret explaining, but Misty looked up and nodded determinedly. Brook was relieved and lifted off out of her nest with Misty following. As they neared the entrance, Brook glanced behind her to make sure no one was watching, then circled down to the hole. It wasn't anything extraordinary, and certainly wasn't very big, especially for a full grown Phoenix. Misty, of course, had no trouble at all. Crawling threw the tunnel a little ways was kinda nerve-racking and claustrophobic, but worth the view inside. The small tunnel opens up into a breath-taking cavern with torches hanging from the ceiling and drawings on the far wall. It had piles of molted feathers, twigs, moss, and animal pelts as temporary seats while meetings were held. It was a lot to take in, especially for a young one, like Misty."WOW!" she exclaimed excitedly, "You didn't tell me it was like this! Wow, what are those drawings? What do they mean?"Brook stifled a laugh, then replied, "They show how to battle train, how to catch prey, any and everything we need to know. Our ancestors drew these to make sure that nothing ever happened to wipe out all water Phoenixes.""Like the Lake Wars?" Misty asked grimly."Yes," Brook said in the same sad tone. The Lake Wars were fought a long time ago between two mini groups of water Phoenixes. Nearly half of their population was wounded or dead by the end, including Brook's parents parents or that's what she had been told. She never knew her real parents, but sort of grew up an outcast, not really liked by most of her peers. 'Perhaps,' she thinks, 'That's why I don't have a mate yet.'A bell ringing snapped Brook out of her thoughts, and she and Misty ran to join the others. A large almost purple-y blue Phoenix, who Brook didn't recognize, stepped up onto the platform and began reciting a pledge, motioning for everyone to repeat. "As a water Phoenix with heart for kindness and a purpose for good," she started, "I pledge not to share any information I learn hear to anyone, but other registered peace makers."Everyone repeated. "Now, is there any important info regarding territorial disputes?"-silence-"Any information on spies or agents?"-silence-"Well, this is going well," she grumbled to herself, "Any new members?""Yes," Brook spoke up. "This is my adopted daughter, Mistystone. She has began really flying today, and a younger perspective may be useful on some subjects."The leader was quite for a moment, deep in thought, then nodded. "Mistystone," she called, "Step forward."Misty cautiously stepped forwards into the center of the room. There were murmurs from around the room, most definitely about her strange feathers. Misty quivered as the leader spoke again."Please repeat after me. I, Mistystone of water, pledge my life to the cause of peace, prosperity, and friendship. I also pledge to hold my tongue when questioned by any unknown bird for fear of being discovered and taken prisoner."She repeated it obediently. The ceremony continued. When finished, a few notes were shared, then, most of them began to leave, including Brook and Misty. Misty was ecstatic the whole way home, being to a big ceremony was a major stepping stone to growing up in the water community. On the way home, Brook couldn't share in Misty's enthusiasm. She just hoped that Misty really could hold her tongue, especially in classes. She had a lump in her stomach saying that something big was about to happen...

@izziebee1017 @CloudPuff @RushingWater(Thanks for setting some things up, spiritkoi!)///////////////////Dim trails of flame drifted through the bright sky, quickly fading out of sight. The broad wings which the fire tapered from dipped down lazily, then rose up again. Zart was gliding along a warm air current above the treetops, scanning the forest below for some sort of grounded beast to chase. The forest itself was located far enough away from the fire phoenix tribe's more concentrated headquarters, leaving her one of the only large winged creatures in sight for some distance. The female fire bird sighed inwardly, unable to fully evade her nagging thoughts. It had been decided. The fire phoenix tribe was also taking part in the war. All four tribes were going to battle with one another, and for what? Zart didn't know the reasoning herself. She snorted, releasing a plume of dark smoke from her nostrils in frustration. She couldn't really blame anyone else for her lack of knowledge though. Deliberately she had often escaped to her favorite past-time, hunting, to be free of the talks of violence and self-destruction. At least that's what Zart considered the popular conversations to be to be about. Any phoenix, regardless of tribe, was still a phoenix, and there was nothing to be gained from attempting to wipe one another out, except for death. Was it even possible for those killed to be reincarnated now? Or was that ability lost somewhere down the generational lines? Zart never needed to be reborn, and her prey certainly didn't have that trait. She couldn't recall seeing any phoenix returning to life in her tribe as of late...Something moved in the greenery below, and her piercing eyes latched onto the figure. Kicking legs, plush fur...Zart let herself fall a few feet lower, trailing closer behind the creature in order to identify it...'A rabbit.' She blinked in annoyance. This one was small, and would have a good time darting under a hedge or rose bush, which meant it'd be easier for her to crash into something if she wasn't careful. 'Well, I could always burn any plants that got a hold of me.' Her sharp beak creaked in what seemed to be a grin. Zart would never risk setting fire to the forest. 'Where would I go for my fun then?' Peering ahead of the bunny, Zart saw that it was headed for a clearing, a chance for her wings to breath before she was left to duck and dive among the crowded trees. Swooping down directly behind and just above her quarry, she waited for the rabbit to react to the intense heat her body exuded. The cottontail's long ears shot up, and, deciding not to take the risk of peering at the threat behind it, increased its stride and zipped around a tree trunk, aiming for cover away from the concentration of high temperatures. The fire phoenix darted after the mammal, far enough away to not follow it into any brush, but close enough to see where it was going. 'Now this is what everyone should be doing! But...!' A pang of guilt struck Zart and almost landed her in a robin's nest. She aggressively flapped her way over it, and resumed her hunt. '...I probably should be at one of those peace meetings I'd heard about. Especially since I just know this war will prevent me from hunting whenever I want to. But what can a few phoenixes do?'

FROSTSTORM'S POINT OF VIEWIt felt like I had been sitting in the Ice Phoenix meeting area for years. Finally, the last Ice Phoenix member of the Peace Movement Society came in, Crevasse. She was as good friend of mine, and she had told me that her father had died because of the disagreements between the phoenix tribes. I nodded at her in greeting, but she didn't seem to see me. I sighed. The doorman, named Frigid flew into the center of the meeting area. This was the first meeting, and I was very excited. I heard him address us, "Fellow Ice Phoenixes, welcome to the first ice phoenix-only meeting of the Peace Movement Society. If you don't know me, I am Frigid. Tomorrow we will go to the central meeting area and meet with all of the other phoenixes in the Peace Movement Society. Only three of you will be chosen to stay in the society with me. I have thought about this carefully, and I have chosen Skye, Icestorm and Crevasse to represent the ice phoenixes in the meeting tomorrow with me. I am sorry to disappoint some of you, but this was a very challenging decision. Those of you who weren't chosen, you may not go to the central meetings ever." Frigid didn't sound very sympathetic.BLAZEWING'S POINT OF VIEWI sat in anxiety as Ash announced the phoenixes that would be representing in the central meeting tomorrow for the Peace Movement Society. "And the phoenixes that will represent the fire phoenixes with me at the meeting tommorow are Zart, BlazeWing and FlameBeak! Wait, where is Zart? Ugg, she's supposed to be here! Oh well, someone tell her that she needs to be at the meeting tomorrow." Ash announced. "Ugg, FlameBeak." I sighed to myself. FlameBeak was really full of himself, and he basically is my arch nemisis. I didn't really know Zart, but I'd seen her around, and she seemed fine. I wasn't looking forward to the central meeting. BREEZEFEATHER'S POINT OF VIEWGusty had us all on edge. "And the Wind Phoenixes' representatives are..... Tornado, FreeWing and Breezefeather!" I was so shocked! I couldn't believe I'd been chosen. Then another thought hit me. What if they don't like me? What if the make fun of me, and I don't have any friends?! I didn't know FreeWing, but Tornado was really nice, and I kind of liked him. The central meeting tommorow would be epic, that is, if FreeWing is nice..... WAVECHILL'S POINT OF VIEWCoral was announcing the representatives for Water Phoenixes. "The representatives are Wavechill, Mistystone and Brookflight!" I didn't know either of them. Tomorrow was going to be interesting......@rushingwater @spiritkoi @cloudpuff @dragonnnI made our phoenixes be chosen as the representatives for our tribes. These characters: Gusty, Coral, Ash, Freewing, Tornado, Flamebeak and Frigid are controlled by everyone. Please don't have any of them die. :/ Also, Coral, Ash, Gusty and Frigid are kinda the leaders of the tribes.

@Dragonnn @SpiritKoi @RushingWater @izziebee1017 (Hope you don't mind if I give Wavechill one line. Also, I'm going to change my last post and make the announcer, Coral)Brook and Misty were both excited! They had been selected to go to the multi-tribe meeting tomorrow. Brook was glad Misty didn't have much time to accidentally spill any secrets. Misty, however, didn't have a care in the world. She was dipping and diving and flapping and flying all over the sky. Brook was a bit more careful, didn't want to raise any suspicion. Luckily, no one in the water community would be suspicious of a youngling just having a good time...unless...unless they were a spy.. But Brook didn't have time to worry about that now.Just as she was thinking about going over to meet Wavechill, he flew up beside them."Hey," Brook started, "You're Wavechill right?"He nodded. "You're Brookflight right? And that's Mistystone I suppose?"I nodded, smiling. "Call me Brook. I'm a little worried about tomorrow. I mean, I'm glad we were chosen and all, but I don't know if Misty is ready for this responsibility.."
izziebee1017 • 6 March 2015 at 7:44 PM
@cloudpuff Wavechill's a guy! 😉 Is it ok with you if Wavechill ends up having a crush on Brook or Misty? 😊 If not, that's cool, just let me know. 😊@dragonnn@spiritkoi@rushingwaterWAVECHILL'S POINT OF VIEWI couldn't speak, Brook had come up to me so fast. I was surprised I had even mustered up the courage to say, "You're Brookflight, right? And that's Mistystone, I suppose?" I heard her say, "Call me Brook. I'm a little worried about tomorrow. I mean, I'm glad we were chosen and all, but I don't know if Misty is ready for this responsibility...."After a long awkward silence, I mumbled, "I'm sure she'll do fine. So, um, what do you think about the, uh, war?"BLAZEWING'S POINT OF VIEWI saw Flamebeak approach me, and I waited for him to bark out some insult, or scoff at me, or give me a horrible glare, but surprisingly, he held his cool and I held mine. He said, "I'm looking forward to the central meeting tommorow. Something tells me it will be.... What's the word? Ah, yes, entertaining. Good bye, Blazewing." And with that, he flew off. He was definitely planning something, I decided, I just had to figure out what.
cloudpuff • 6 March 2015 at 9:27 PM
@izziebee1017 OOPS! *blushes* Ok, fixed that, and yes, he can have a crush on Brookflight. (I think Misty is probably too young.)@spiritkoi@dragonnn@RushingWater"Well," Brook replied, suddenly feeling the same sort of shyness that he had shown toward her, "I don't liked it..I mean..I am in the meace povement..uhh..peace movement.." Misty was still darting around in front of them. "So, do you know if we need to bring or do anything for tomorrow?" Brook asked awkwardly.Misty darted around to us. "Hey," she yelled indignantly, "See, this is why I don't want war, because all the gownups get too serious! Have some fun you guys!"Brook shrugged at Wavechill. What could she do? So, she started twisting and turning in midair, motioning to Wavechill to do the same, eager to see if he would and what he could do...

@rushingwater @izziebee1017 @cloudpuff ///////////////////////////////Flashing out of a thicket, careful not to set it alight with the small trickles of flame escaping her body, Zart rose above the greenery. Her target had led her deep through the forest, and though she never got close enough to the rabbit to snare it in her talons, the constant dodging of branches and tree trunks was good practice for her. It kept her fit, but also...'I may need fly among the trees sometime soon in case some blood-thirsty phoenix comes after me...'The rabbit was making its way towards another clearing, having realized that hiding under bushes and zigzagging among tress did nothing to throw of the fire bird tailing it. Zart saw this as her chance to finally claim her prize, and started flapping her wings harder, to gain speed. She timed her movements so that once the herbivore reached the middle of the grassy area, she shot her legs forward, pulled her large wings back, bared her talons and-"Hey, Zart! Stop fooling around with that beast and get back to your tribe!"At the last moment the rabbit abruptly jolted left, and Zart, distracted, ended up pouncing on the ground, clasping her talons deep into the dirt, and tipping over, flat onto her face, wings outspread. The rabbit disappeared into the woods.A soft, cawing laughter filled the clearing. Zart opened her eyes and shook off the shock from her fall. She spotted her distractor, FlameBeak, laughing at her from above as he hovered several feet off the ground, wings flapping with ease. "Well, you wouldn't have ended up with a beakful of dirt if you were at the meeting today, hm?"Using her wings to right herself up off the ground and unearthing her claws, Zart looked up at the fiery male and narrowed her eyes at him in frustration, but then relaxed. "A small price to pay when instead I'd probably have to sit around and talk all day. Flying practice is just as good as peace talk when it comes to solving phoenix squabbling, am I right?" She shook her wings to remove any dirt that might have clung to them.FlameBeak snorted in disdain. "This isn't a squabble, this is a war, Zart. I can't believe I have to remind you of that." He paused, then continued haughtily, "This is a very serious situation, and you should treat it as such. And our serious talks in our serious meetings are going to have a much greater effect on the termination of this war than simply knowing how to fly properly. Because through talking, we'll have formed a plan." FlameBeak looked down at Zart expectantly, as if to make sure she understood his words. She stared back at him in silence. "Anyway, I came here to inform you that you were chosen to accompany our group tomorrow, in traveling to the central gathering of the Peace Movement Society." FlameBeak lifted his eyes towards the sun as he continued, as if speaking to himself, "Why they chose someone who ditches all of the meetings, I have not the faintest idea. But," he focused on Zart again, "you're coming with us. So hurry up. Back to your nest."With his message delivered, FlameBeak took off, out of the clearing. Zart didn't know where he was going, but she felt a bit upset. "Wow. They chose me to help represent our peace keepers? In front of other tribes' peace groups?" She hung her head, close to her chest. "Now I wish I hadn't missed all those meetings," she murmured. "I have no idea what's going on."Sighing, Zart took a running start forward, then opened her wings and lifted herself into the sky, flapping mightily to quickly get her bulk airborne. Rising up above the treetops, she scanned the land ahead of her, and, once she spotted it, flew back towards her home, as quickly as she could.

@spiritkoi@dragonnn@RushingWater@izziebee1017 (P.S. What does Wavechill do?)=================================Brook let her emotions run free. Twirling around in the sky made her feel like a hatchling again. With all this war, it was nice to be able to laugh sometimes. She turned around to see Wavechill hovering behind her with his beak open and looking like he thought she was crazy."What's the matter? Cat got your tongue?" She said playfully, hoping he wasn't so shy that he couldn't have a little fun."Come one," squealed Misty as she dove toward the ground, then, at the last second, dipped up and flew upside down toward a pond.Brook flew after her, giggling, hoping that Wavechill had followed. As Brook reached the water's edge, she saw Misty staring at something in the distance. It took a while to realize what it was, but it was soon clear. As the trumpets sounded and yelling came closer, they realized with a shock what it was... an enemy troop was coming, and by the looks of them, they definitely weren't peaceful...

@spiritkoi@dragonnn@RushingWater@cloudpuffWAVECHILL'S POINT OF VIEW!!!I follow Brook and Misty; what else could I do? I may be shy, but I'm not rude! As we fly, we hear trumpets. AN ENEMY TROOP!!! As we drew closer, I saw it was a group of fire phoenixes! "Fire phoenixes!" I hissed to Brook and Misty. "What do we do?"
cloudpuff • 20 March 2015 at 7:15 PM
@izziebee1017 @dragonnn @spiritkoi @RushingWater(Sorry this is so late...)===============================Misty was frozen with fear. She had no idea what to do. Brook hovered behind her a little ways, next to Wavechill."We need to hide," whispered Brook urgently, "Come on, hurry!"Brook snatched up Misty and flew towards a hollow tree, but not without a glance behind her to make sure Wavechill was following.
dragonnn • 22 March 2015 at 1:16 AM
@izziebee1017 @RushingWater @cloudpuff (Does anyone have a map of the territories? Like which territory is close to which, in what direction do they lie from one another, etc. If not, I'll make one based off of spiritkoi's riddle in the first post.) (Accidentally closed the Tab and lost 1000 characters WHY MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEGSGRGR)//////////////////////////////In a daze, Zart returned back to her nest. On her return to fire phoenix territory, she caught sight of three bright bursts of flame speedily heading away from her home turf. "Huh? Where are those three going? They looked really fired up..." Reaching her nest, Zart hovered in the air for a few seconds, then plopped down into her fire-resistant bed. Cocking her head in the direction those three fire birds had flown off in earlier, she noticed the oncoming darkness of the night. Patches of flame, some small, some large bunches, dotted the Fire territory. They were Zart's fellow tribe members, who had decided to stay home this evening, or were preparing to leave, to possibly hunt, or partake in whatever other activities they fancied. Fire phoenixes created their own light, and didn't need to rely on the sun to guide them. Because of this, a fire bird could sleep all day, soaking up the heat of the sun, then dive off into the night, waking up their weary day-dwelling prey and snatching them out of their burrows without much resistance...unless their prey also happened to keep a nocturnal schedule.Zart's head began to sink, her beak resting on her bosom. She'd been out flying all day, and now it was time for her to rest. Shutting one of her eyes, she thought back to those three fire tribe members from earlier. The image of those phoenixes flying so aggressively wouldn't leave her alone. 'There was something odd about those three. They couldn't have been going hunting, the forest is back the other way...And if they were visiting a different tribe, they'd probably be attacked there...right?'Zart lifted her head, both eyes open now, but squinting and twitching as if fighting for Zart to succumb to sleep. 'I have a meeting to attend tomorrow. A very important meeting.' Zart hobbled to the edge of her nest, claws gripping the dense material. 'As a member of the Peacekeepers group, from the Fire division, and to make up for lost time, I will follow my fellow phoenixes and make sure that they too keep the peace. Whether the war has started, or not.' She really wasn't sure, even at this point.Taking a few moments to flap her wings and get her pulse pumping again, Zart loosed a shriek from her beak and leapt from her nest, intent on chasing after the trio. Fire phoenixes had a way of concealing their bodies of flame from others, but Zart was confident that she'd catch up the to other three before they reached a point outside of Fire territory where that would be necessary, at least to her. Fluttering frantically for a few moments, Zart was finally able to steady herself, and, taking heavy strokes with her broad wingspan, picked up her speed and pursued her targets. Whether she was aware of it or not, Zart was on her way to Water territory, an especially dangerous place for a sleepy fire bird, regardless of the adrenaline flowing through her.

@izziebee1017 @dragonnn @spiritkoi @RushingWater Come on guys, it's dying!!Let's do this for the territories: water, fire, wind, ice - It would be in a circle, so water would also be next to ice. Get it?================================Misty was curled into a ball underneath Brook's right wing. On her left, Wavechill was pressed against the wall awkwardly trying not to brush up against Brook. Brook looked out of the hollow."What are THEY doing here," she hissed, "Don't they have something better to do...""Brook," Misty whispered, "What's going on? Who are they?"Brook explained to Misty that they were enemies, fire phoenixes from the territory to the left."Wavechill, what should we do?" Brook asked nervously...
