@shelby

Ok! Thanks 😊

So, I have a question about the 'leveling' system... some creatures evolve by clicks, others by views and others by feeds, right? So, what is the level of a creature? How does it increase? I don't think it increases by feeding once (ex. a creature that needed feeding to evolve is fed once, it increases a level each time it is fed). Can you shed some light on this for me? Thanks so much! 😊

@p_pixelninja216

The levels of creatures increase with feeds, clicks and views.
I'm not 100% sure how many per stat it takes to increase the levels though.
But once a creature hits level 2000, it will become immortal and not die if it's happiness gets too low.

The creatures reach level 2000 when the sum of the clicks, views and feeds gets to 6000 😊 (the level is calculated as the sum of those divided by 3)

And welcome to EggCave 😃 😃. It's really great here, you'll see ^^

@mika_milile @shelby
Thanks guys! 😊

I also have a few more questions... (argh so many of them 😃)

Firstly, when you organize your creatures into groups, you can name the groups different things (feeding list, immortalizing, etc.) I just want to know, what is the point of these lists, and how should I decide how to organize my groups? Obviously, I don't have a lot of creatures yet, but this info would be very helpful to me for the future. 😊 Also, what is the POINT of a 'feeding' group (because don't creatures die if you don't feed them?), and also, how can you feed the pets only in a specific group? From what I have found out, when you click on a creature, it just lists it along with all the other creatures.
And one last thing... what is an efficient way to feed a bunch of creatures at the same time (in coves AND in the Click Exchange)? I know that you can hold down ctrl while clicking creatures so that you can later go through the new tabs one by one, but... that's about it. 😃 Is there a way to do it quickly, without having 700 tabs open (my internet can be slow)? Thank you SO MUCH! 😊

Note: (I might have sent this to you by accident @mika_milile , but it might have been another person (I honestly can't remember). Feel free to reply at either place!

Haha, alright 😃

The lists are used, basically, however you like to use them 😃 (we call them lists ^^). You can make them either for your own reference or for other users to see when they come to your profile. You'll soon get the hang of it as you cruise around other people's Coves (those are the "profiles"). There's actually a lengthy conversation about feeding and lists that we had in this topic a while back, I think it's best that you read that 😃 http://eggcave.com/forums/topic/53254 (if you don't understand something, just ask 😊 )

And yes, creatures die if their happiess gets too low (I'm not sure if it actually has to get to 0 for them to die, as you start getting warnings (on the creature profiles) that your creature could die when they get to ~15 or less health). And yup, you basically have to specifically click on every creature you want to feed, and it basically comes down to having many tabs open, but, again, take a look at that topic I linked and you'll get more info there 😃 (I'm kind of in a hurry at the moment, otherwise I'd write more XD)

Again, if there's any confusion, just ask 😊

@mika_milile

Ok, thank you so much! I will definitely read the topic, and I will reply to you here if I have a question. 😊

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ok, so I have some questions XD @mika_milile
You said, "I open all the creatures in the leftmost column in new tabs, then I zoom through tabs with Alt+Tab and just click on the "Feed" button, and then zoom through all the tabs again while clicking the "Next Creature" button. This way, to have fed the whole Cove, I have to repeat that five times. If the Cove size iz around 300, I open every SECOND creature in the leftmost column, and I have to repeat it 10 times, etc. I've found that a Cove size of around 150 creatures gives me roughly the optimal number of around 30 tabs (the more tabs you have open, the slower they load, but you still want to make it time-efficient so you WANT to open as many tabs as you can without going too far to have it slow you down again XD)."
1. When you said that you opened all the creatures in new tabs, did you mean new windows? Because when I press alt+tab, it takes me back and forth between my desktop and Google Chrome (only 2 windows). Also, can you go into a little more detail with this process for me? It's a little confusing 😊
2. If all creatures (except immortals) die when their happiness gets too low, then how do you feed all of them (assuming you have, like, 200) without taking forever? Because I have a small cove, my current method is basically to open my cove, click on one of my creatures, and just cycle through them by clicking next creature. It's okay for now, but I really want to understand how to do your method so that I can use it for other people's coves as well (and the Exchange).
3. So if someone has three lists/groups (immortals, favorites, and feeding), they would have 2000+ leveled creatures in immortals, favorites in favorites, and 2000- leveled creatures in feeding, right? So, how do they make sure that they ONLY feed the pets in their feeding group? Basically, how do you feed/display the pets that are only in a certain group? Do you HAVE to use a method like yours, or can you click some button so that you can only cycle through the pets in a certain group?
And last one (I promise): Is there a way to have new creatures (from cave or trades, or other places) automatically moved into a list?
The feeding REALLY doesn't need to take forever at all, you'll see soon enough that there's really nothing to it 😊. It takes me 5 minutes or less to feed my whole Cove, depending on how relaxed I feel like being that day XD.
Alright, as for my method - do you see how people's Coves have five columns of pets in them? No matter if the person has 10 or 600 creatures, there are always five columns. When you open the creatures in the leftmost column in new tabs, you will have essentially opened the 1st, 6th, 11th, 16th and so on creature in that user's Cove. If you open every second one in the leftmost column, you'll have opened the 1st, 11th, 21st, 31st etc. creature in that Cove.
I've found that, for me, the optimal number of open tabs is around 30 (the loading time is not too slow, and it's a fast enough way for me to feed creatures). Now, for example, my Cove currently has 326 creatures in it. If I wanted to feed them all, and if I opened the 1st, 6th, 11th, 16th... creature in it, I would have opened around 60 tabs, which is too much because everything would load too slow (it can be faster or slower for some people, so you're going to have to find out what's best for you). So I would need to open the 1st, 11th, 21st, 31st etc. creature, which means every second creature in the leftmost column. Specifically, for my Cove, I would open these creatures in new tabs first: --36--5, 0Eftsala0, AlanTuring, AwakeAlive and so on, until the bottom of my Cove.
And now that I have those tabs open, we start the feeding.
I click the first open tab (in this case, --36--5 the Eftsala), I click "Feed", and then I press Ctrl+Tab (sorry, I wrote that wrong before, Alt+Tab WOULD switch between windows and not tabs XD), now I'm at 0Eftsala0 the Eftsala, I click "Feed" again, then Ctrl+Tab, and so on until I've clicked "Feed" in all those open tabs.
Next, I come to the first open tab again, which is --36--5 the Eftsala, and where the "Feed" button was, it will now say that I've already fed that creature that day. You'll also notice that, in the top centre of the creature profile page, it will say "(1 of 326)". Then I click "Next Creature", Ctrl+Tab, "Next Creature", Ctrl+Tab, etc., until I've been through all the open tabs again. The pages open now should be the 2nd, 12th, 22nd, 32nd etc. creatures in the Cove, and you would feed them all the same way as you did the 1st, 11th, 21st, 31st etc. By now it should seem obvious that you should repeat this process until you've fed the 10th, 20th, 30th, 40th etc. creature, because the creatures after them would be the 11th, 21st, 31st, 41st creatures, and you'll have already done those 😊.
Note that this is a method for only feeding somebody's whole Cove, not their specific lists. As for your question, nope, you couldn't really feed only somebody's list this way, because the "Next Creature" button wouldn't take you to the next creature in the list, but the next creature in the COVE, which is just in alphabetic order. And no, unfortunately, there is no button to only feed specific lists. It would be helpful if it existed, but there, we don't have it yet XD (but EggCave is constantly adding new things - we used to not have the lists at all XD, try telling people what to feed or not feed then XD, so I wouldn't be surprised if they implemented this feature in the future). To feed ONLY somebody's list, you'd have to open every creature in it specifically, feed it, and close the tab. This is why I say in the other topic that I prefer to feed people's whole Cove and not their lists, because it's just easier for me that way XD. But it's completely up to personal preference. The lists are a helpful tool, however you view it 😊.
And nope, there isn't a way to have new creatures automatically moved to a list, you have to do it yourself XD. Again, a good suggestion for improvement (believe me, I get ideas about the site all the time too XD), but for now, we don't have it.
For a history of EggCave's improvements and a general timeline, I suggest you visit the Site Blog page and read backwards through it, you'll see what I mean 😃. The Site Blog page is something you should keep an eye on regularly in general, to know what's going on 😊 (don't worry, you get a notification every time that there's a new Site Blog post 😊 ). For example, there's a site event starting on March 13th ^^
Oh, and btw, feeding is not the only way to keep your pets happy and alive - if you don't have time to feed, you can always put them in Tim's Food Shoppe (http://eggcave.com/arkcity/timsfood) 😊
There, I think I covered everything XD. Any more questions XD?
@mika_milile
Wow. Thank you SO MUCH! I can't explain how much this post helped me. XD
For me, I have found that my internet starts to lag if I open 12+ tabs, but I can still get things done. It gets REALLY bad when I open 25+ tabs. XD
But seriously, thanks so much. This has been so amazingly helpful. I'll probably go feed your whole cove now XD
@p_pixelninja216
Haha, no problem, my pleasure 😃.
And yeah, unfortunately, internet speed is the limiting factor for feeding. It'll take you longer than it would take me to feed the same Cove, and there are probably people who can do it even faster, but it's just something we have to live with XD. And it doesn't have to mean much. The most important thing on EggCave is to have fun, you're not coming to the site to get stressed out over creatures 😊. Just find a balance for yourself and it'll be great. There are so many different ways people use EggCave - the most usual goal I see is "collect them all" or such, but others just really love Honks ( @honklover62 ), Mos ( @bubblez_iz_baq ), asteroid cretures ( @Meteoroid9 ), or naming their creatures after breeds of horses ( @furfur ) XD 😃. It's always fun for me when I find something new and interesting XD 😃
