Addition of an img code

in Site Feedback & Ideas

Should this be implemented?

I'm open to criticism as I think there might be some flaws ^^;

I personally like putting image codes inside of profile pages since it makes profile pages fun to read/more interesting to look at. Adding on, those who have Fan Art suggestions can just use it, instead of linking to another website. Many forum websites use this:

I think these should be able to be used everywhere in forums, profiles, and posts.

I think this can be helpful and equally decorative as well!

I found 800×580 isn't enormous but at the same time, can carry a lot of detail, so let's start there. (http://img03.deviantart.net/cd37/i/2012/309/0/f/colors_of_nature_by_mirellasantana-d5k4tb1.png)

[...]Maybe have a limit to the amount of images you can put in one post too? I could see someone listing their entire 300 egg cove in one post. Another problem we might have with this is inappropriate images..

I think 4 images in a post is fair enough, and up to eight (keeping them quite small) in a profile since it's truly where you can write what you please. Inappropriate images... honestly, common sense tells us not to do so, but there are definitely going to be rules against it. (an image filter would be good idea for this say someone searches up an unreliable source for a picture, an different image would say that should pick another photo)

[...] No big images, no advertising, no images that can break the rules, I don't know. It would be a big deal to mods also, since they would have to watch the texts and images.

True. I do want ensure that these are safe images to look at, but less of a burden to the mods, so again, an image filter, a preselected image size, (800x580), a limited amount to pictures (4 per post, 8 per profile)

[...]It also could very well make lag even worse, and the lag is pretty bad as it is.

[i] I realize big images/too many images cause lag.
Preselected image size, (800x580),
4 img to post, 8 img to profile

I've been wanting this since the codes were introduced. I would love this so much, but I can just see people using overly large photos, which can be extremely irritating to some. So maybe a size limit could apply too?

I agree with both of you 😊 Maybe have a limit to the amount of images you can put in one post too? I could see someone listing their entire 300 egg cove in one post. Another problem we might have with this is inappropriate images..

@mallow I like it, as long as there's moderation in its use. No big images, no advertising, no images that can break the rules, I don't know. It would be a big deal to mods also, since they would have to watch the texts and images.

I personally wouldn't use them, but I support the ones who would want to 😊

I agree, honestly it would bring mods extra work...but yes, I definitely agree with moderation it could be much better ^-^ Mind if I add on some of your ideas?

(Thanks for all the support and the suggestions, everyone!)

I wanted to be able to post images since the first time I joined egg cave. And for the inappropriate image problem I don't see many people in egg cave doing that. Yes there is the occasional spammer but there's always a report button. It would be a lot of extra work for mods though, and a lot of new rules would have to be layed down. I also like @raitonchidori 's idea.
Whether this IMG thing actually happens depends on whether the mods are willing to deal with all the extra work though.

@mallow I agree with @queens and @raitonchidori on this. It's great, but I'm afraid it would be a lot easier said than done for the staff. It also could very well make lag even worse, and the lag is pretty bad as it is.

@mallow

I think this is a great idea, but I also think it could be too easily abused in terms of inappropriate images. Like yeah, the mods can take down anything deemed inappropriate, but they can't do it immediately
